A volume, 1803-1859, containing verse and prose in English, French and Italian, mainly dedicated to Caroline Hamilton (née Tighe, d. 1861) of Hamwood, in various hands including those of members of the families of Hamilton, Tighe and Fitzgerald, as well as transcripts and watercolour decorations by Sarah Ponsonby, among them being two views of Plasnewydd (ff. 35, 39). The poetry includes an autograph unfinished poem by Thomas Moore, differing from the published version ('Tell me the witching tale again ...', ff. 3-4), an autograph, apparently unpublished poem by Mary Tighe ('Though Genius and Fancy hereafter may trace ...', f. 7 recto-verso), and two autograph published poems by Mrs Felicia Hemans (ff. 48 verso-49).

A letter dated 16 July 1798 from the Hon. Eleanor Charlotte Butler (1745?-1829) and Sarah Ponsonby (1755-1831) (the Ladies of Llangollen) to Hester Lynch Piozzi (1741-1821), Brynbella, Denbighshire.

A volume containing some one hundred and two letters and other papers, [1487x1503]-1895, many relating to the Davies, Cooke and Davies-Cooke families of Gwysaney, Owston and Llanerch and relatives such as the Earl of Kingston, with other letters apparently collected as examples of autographs. Also included are items such as engravings, photographs and cuttings relating to some of the correspondents, 1788-1900; some items are accompanied by biographical notes, [19 cent., third ¼].

A letter, 2 February 1817 (watermark 1801), to [the Rev. George] Robson, prebendary of St Asaph and rector of Erbistock (ff. 135-136), and another to his wife, 1 October 1827 (watermark 1823) (f. 137), from Lady Eleanor Butler and Miss Sarah Ponsonby, 'The Ladies of Llangollen'. Both letters are in the hand of [?Eleanor Butler]. They are mainly concerned with local affairs, relating in particular to the parish clerk of Llangollen, [Robert Wynne-Eyton], and his wife (ff. 135-136).

Medical recipes compiled and transcribed, [1790s], by Sarah Ponsonby, acquired from friends of herself and Lady Eleanor Butler.

Also included are engravings of related portraits and landscapes, and watercolours, 1830s, by Lady Leighton of Plas Newydd, its grounds and local views.
