Papers, in the main diaries and correspondence, 1895-[?1978], of Edward and Helen Thomas, comprising diaries of Edward Thomas, 1895-1917; correspondence, 1896-1917, of Edward Thomas and his wife Helen; correspondence, 1895-1896, of Edward Thomas and his father-in-law James Ashcroft Noble; autograph drafts of poems, 1914-1917, by Edward Thomas, all of which were published in The Collected Poems of Edward Thomas, ed. by R. George Thomas (Oxford, 1978); the original manuscript of The Heart of England (London, 1906); an autograph prose piece, 1912, entitled 'A Castle of Cloud'; and fragments of Edward Thomas's journals, memoranda, photographs, etc., 1895-1916.

Some fifty-six letters, [1950]-[1962], from Helen Thomas to the writer Rex Taylor (ff. 4-71), together with three letters, 1948-1964, to the poet Basil Dowling (ff. 1-3 verso); they contain mainly personal news, comments on Edward Thomas and on the work of Rex Taylor.

One hundred and thirty-two letters and cards, 1959-1967, from Helen Thomas to Terence Cooper, London, containing mainly personal news and comments on Edward Thomas; also included are two letters, 1962-1965, from Myfanwy Thomas, daughter of Helen and Edward Thomas (ff. 45, 144).

Typescript transcripts, [?1977], by Myfanwy Thomas of letters and cards, dated 1959-1967, from her mother Helen Thomas to Terence Cooper, now NLW MS 23299C (ff. 9-175), together with a related letter, 1977, from her to Terence Cooper (f. 7), and typescript notes by the latter on his first three visits to Helen Thomas in 1959 (ff. 1-6).

An autobiographical work entitled 'Quick March', written [in 1931] by Helen Thomas, and bearing corrections and paragraph marks, evidently in preparation for publication. The work appeared untitled as the seventeenth and final chapter of her second memoir, World Without End (London: Heinemann, 1931), pp. 181-194. This manuscript was claimed by the seller to have been owned by Vita Sackville-West, who reviewed World Without End (see Helen Thomas, Time & Again: Memoirs and Letters, ed. by Myfanwy Thomas (Manchester, 1978), p. 130).
