Cell-gasgl Sion Lleyn ...,

A small volume entitled 'Cell-gasgl Sion Lleyn, 1805', containing 'englynion' (chiefly epitaphs), stanzas in free metre including hymn stanzas, and one or two longer poems (e.g. 'Awdl ar Dosturi 1809' and 'Pillion i Dwm or Nant herwydd ei Lyfr, sef Ban y Byd - Creglais o Groglofft &c, 1809, Ebrill 27') by and in the autograph of John Roberts ('Sion Lleyn'). Other poets represented are Griffth Williams('Guttun Peris'), W. Elias and O[wen] Griffith. There is also a list of unfamiliar Welsh words ('Geiriau Cymraeg dieithrol yn amlwg'), with the following note: 'Hyn a gymerwyd o gasgliadau Thos Prys Esqur, Plas Iolun, a D. Ddu a S. Lleyn'. On p. 58 is the note 'Mai 11. 1812 Priodais' [see Cwrtmawr MS 510, p. 106].

Barddoniaeth,

A scrap-book compiled, with a holograph introduction and table of authors, by David Evans, Llanrwst containing press cuttings, largely from Llais y Wlad, 1875-?81, of 'cywyddau' and 'awdlau', with annotations. The poetry consists mainly of the flyting 'cywyddau' of Edmwnd Prys and William Cynwal ('Yr Ymrysonfeydd rhwng Edmwnd Prys, Archddiacon Meirionydd, a William Cynwal, Prydydd ac Arwyddfardd') and 'cywyddau' ('Cyfansoddiadau') by Dafydd Llwyd ab Llywelyn ab Gruffydd Fychan. Other poets represented in the volume are John Williams ('Athraw Ysgol Trawsfynydd') (1779), Huw Arwystl, Gruffydd Rys (1706) ('Benjamin Simon a'i 'sgrifennodd'), Rhaph ab Conwy, Tudur Penllyn, Hywel ap Daf[ydd] ap Ieuan ap Rhys (1450), Thomas Prys (Plas Iolyn), Ieuan Môn, Simwnt Fychan, Gruffydd Llwyd ap D[afydd] ap Einon, Hywel Dafi, William Llŷn, William Phillip, Ffowc Prys ('Offeiriad Celynog'), John Owens (1671), Thomas Derllysg, Ieuan Dyfi, Ieuan o Gydweli, Dafydd Elis ('o Griccieth'), Gwerfil Mechain (1400), Harri Howel(l) (1661), [Edward Williams] 'Iolo Morganwg' (1799), Sion Brwynog, Sion Tudur, Lewis Morganwg, Sion Ceri, Hywel ap Syr Mathew, Huw Lleyn, Dafydd Nanmor, Lewis Morris ('Llywelyn Ddu o Fôn'), Morus ap Ifan ap Einion [Morus Dwyfech], Dafydd Hopkin ('o'r Coed-du') (1735) and Mathew Owen ('Llangarwgwyn, swydd Feirionydd').

A composite volume containing lists of Welsh words and their meanings, some in the autograph of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), others from printed sources; notes in the autograph of R. Prys Morris, including references to a number of 'cywyddau', etc. by Edmwnd Prys in BM Add MSS and a few extracts from [Joseph] Besse, A collection of the sufferings of the people called Quakers (London, 1753); part of a letter from the Reverend Evan Evans [? Llansadwrn Rectory, Anglesey] to 'Myrddin Fardd'; and transcripts in the autograph of 'Myrddin Fardd' and others of poetry by Rowland Jones, Richard Hughes, Cefn Llanfair, Cadwaladr Cesail, Thomas Williams ('Twm Pedrog'), Morys Dwyfech, Huw Arwystl, [ ] 'Gutto o Leyn' (d. 1867) (beginning wanting) and [Evan Pritchard] 'Ieuan Lleyn', some printed in J. Jones ['Myrddin Fardd'], Cynfeirdd Lleyn (Pwllheli, 1905).
