A volume lettered 'Ballads, Deeds, Pedigrees &c. MS', being a collection in the hand of J. H. Davies of transcripts of ballads by 'Daniel Gloff', David Jones (Llanbydder), James Thomas (Llanwenog), William Bowen, 'Prydydd Bach Glan Teifi' and Joseph Jenkins, Trecefel [Tregaron] 'Amnon II') and of 'cywyddau' by Gruff. Llwyd ap Davyd ap Einion, Ieuan ap Rhydderch, Rys Goch O Ryri, and Morys ap Ll'n; transcripts, abstracts, and extracts, largely of genealogical interest, taken from public records, Harleian MSS, the Golden Grove Book and printed sources (e.g. the families of Venables of Llysdinam Hall, Clement of Caron, etc. and Wogan of Wiston, Prydderch of Ystradwallter, etc., Lloyd of Abermâd, Price of Rhiwlas, Nanney of Nannau, Owen of Dolserau, Prys of Plas Iolyn, and Salesbury of Llanrwst); abstracts of Abermeyrick estate deeds and documents, 1552-1796, in the parishes of Nant-gwnlle, Llanddewibrefi, Llanbadarn Odyn, Dyhewyd, Llanerchayron, Lledrod, Llandissill, Bettws Bledrws, Llangybi, Llangeitho, Bangor [Teifi], and Llangynllo and in the lordships of Pennarth and Caron, Mabwnion, and Lligenydd, Cardiganshire, etc. There is a list of contents at the beginning and among a number of insets is a transcript in the hand of John Davies, Lampeter, 1900, of a schedule of estate deeds, 1544-1682, of Dyffrynllynod, Llandyssul in the possession of J. E. Rogers, Abermeurig relating to properties in Bangor, Penbryn, Llanguillo [sic for Llangunllo] and Landissel, Cardiganshire.

A collection, made by Ebenezer Williams ('Gwernyfed', Merthyr Tydfil, died 1913), of penillion, 'tribannau', and ballads, mainly of Glamorgan and Brecknockshire interest, with three letters from 'Gwernyfed' to Edmund J. Jones.

A collection entitled 'Casgliad o hên Gerddi difyr a digri', being transcripts, with annotations, by J. H. Davies from manuscript and printed sources, notably NLW Add. MS 9 in the hand of David Jones ('Dewi Fardd'), Trefriw, of 'cerddi', 'carolau', and a few cywyddau, by Robt. Humphreys alias Ragad, Angharad James, Rees Ellis, Morus Rhobert, Cadwaladr Morris, Richard Thomas, Hugh ab Evan, William Phylip, William Pyrs Dafydd, Edward Roberts ('o'r Yspytty'), Beuno Ben-noeth ('o Sir Gaer helbul'), Lewis Cynllwyd, Maurice Evans, Rowland Vaughan, Salbri Powel, Richard Phylip ('Philip Bach pan oedd Sawdwr'), Huwcyn Sion, John Edwards ('o Gae-môr'), Morgan Llwyd ('o Faentwrog'), Dafydd Evans ('o Lansilin'), Wm. The volume also contains anonymous poems and a list of 'Cerddi'r Te' or ballads based on the general introduction of tea-drinking into Wales. At the end there are an index of first lines of the poems included in the volume, an index of authors and a calendar of the contents of NLW Add. MS 9. The collection was compiled approximately during February - July 1902.

A manuscript entitled 'Llyfyr Karoleu Johannes Jones', being a collection of carolau and a ballad written in both the early and late hands of John Jones, Gellilyfdy. Most of the carolau are anonymous but there are some attributed to Howel ap Lle'n, Roesier Kyffin, Edmwnt Prys ('archiagon Meirionnydd'), [Richard White] [See T. H. Parry-Williams (gol.) Carolau Richard White (Caerdydd, 1931)], Edwart Konwy ('o Sychtyn yn Tegeingl ap Edward Konwy'), Elis (ap) Kynrig ap Rissiart Lewis ('or Vanachloc redyn'), Sion Lewis ap Sion Wynn ('o Dowynn Meirionnydd'), Tomas Jones, Mr Rys ap Tomas, Wiliam Mathew, Rhobert Llwyd ('o Gaergybi') Syr Wiliam Dai ap Wiliam Dai Nanklyn, Rhobert Vychan and Sion Dai Meirig. At the beginning of the volume there is an index of first lines in the hand of J. H. Davies. Some of the earlier carols in the volume, among them five by Richard White, were copied during the period 1605-10. Pp. 405-7 of the volume are bound in Peniarth MS 173, 43-5).

Miscellanea from the collection of J. Lloyd James ('Clwydwenfro'), including a biography by him, c. 1895, of John Griffiths, Ynys-fawr, Llandissilio East, Carmarthenshire; a transcript, 1887, by Jonathan N. Davies ('Carnalaw'), for 'Clwydwenfro', of an 'awdl' on 'Cymmedroldeb' by 'Ioan Glan Taf' which was awarded the prize at an eisteddfod at Crymych, Pembrokeshire, 1881; and an incomplete transcript of a Welsh ballad.

A copy of the ballad 'Ymddiddan rhwng hen wr dall a'r Angau', followed by a religious poem beginning 'O pwy fel fi syn yn y byd yn amme ac yn credu o hyd ...'. The volume belonged to Edmund Lewis in 1763.
