Rowlands, 1826', being a collection of holograph sermons by the Reverend William Rowlands ('Gwilym Lleyn'), together with a record of the places at which they were preached, 1826-1829. Merioneth, containing transcripts of Latin texts (Greek and Roman biographies, 'Dictamen de bonis moribus', etc.), with English translations, written in 1681; notes of sermons by Mr. Jenkin Thomas (once at Llanvilling), Mr. H. Owens [of Bronyclydwr, Llanegryn], and Mr. Morg[an] Tho[mas] (once at Hendre), 1695-1696; miscellaneous memoranda (payment for wheat at Corwen fair, payment of Bodwenni tithe, the tenancies of tenements in Llandderfel, etc.), 1694/5-1696; 'Phrases ex Erasmo'; extracts from Ovid's Metamorphosis; a Greek-Latin vocabulary; etc.

A note-book possibly in the hand of the Reverend John Evans, Baptist minister, best known as John Evans, Abercannaid, Merthyr. The contents consist entirely of sermon notes, 1827-1829 and undated. Inset are loose items, including a note addressed by D. Rhys Stephen, from Abertawy, to the Reverend John Evans, [18]31 (accompanying a copy of a three-stanza hymn by John Morris, headed 'Hymn dduwiol a gyfansoddwyd i'r Parch. Mr. Davies, Alltwen'), and further sermon notes, [18]44 and [18]67, bearing the initials 'J.E.'., or the signature 'John Evans'.

A collection of exercise and notebooks, and a few loose leaves, containing poems, prose compositions, and miscellaneous memoranda [by, and in the hand of, Isaac Jones, Diserth, co. Flint]. The literary compositions, most of which are in draft form, include 'pryddestau' entitled 'Abel', 'Cartref' [for versions of these two poems, see also N.L.W. MS. 12625B], 'Y Bibl', and 'Deborah' (1872 ); 'englynion' headed 'i'r Fronwen', 'i'r Hen Lanc' (1864), 'i'r Tobacco' ( 1871), 'i'r Talegraph' [sic] (1871), 'i Fryn Gwenallt, Abergele' (1872), 'Peiriant Dyrnu' (1875), and 'Y Lloer'; miscellaneous poems called 'Cartref Cysurus', 'Sadrach, Mesach, ac Abednego' (1873), 'Mynydd yr Olwydd' (1874 ), 'Pulpud bach y teulu' (1874), 'Dyfodiad dwfr Llanefydd i Abergele' (1874), and 'Y Bwriad'; essays, or the texts of papers or addresses, on 'Golwg ar ddifyrwch y bobl yn Nghymru yn yr oes hon ar oes or blaen . . .' ( 1878), 'Gwasanaeth yr emyn' (1905), 'Gwneyd Cyfrif' (1925), 'Y Bardd a'r diwynydd' (fragment), 'Dyledswydd yr athraw i fod yn ffyddlawn tuag at yr ysgol Sabbothol', 'Darbodaeth', 'Gwyrthiau', 'Y Pwysigrwydd o iawn ddefnyddio oriau hamddenol', and 'Dringo'r mynyddoedd'; and a moral tale ('ffugchwedl ddirwestol') entitled 'Y Graith hynod, neu y ddau gymeriad'. Many of these poems and essays were composed for submission in competitions at local eisteddfodau or literary meetings. Other items include adjudications on 'telynegion' submitted for competition at a literary meeting held at Dyserth, February 1920, and in an essay competition for an essay on 'Taith Israel o'r Aipht hyd Sinai'; a copy of an announcement of a literary and musical meeting to be held at the Calvinistic Methodist chapel, Llysfaen, 2 November 1876; a report on Sunday schools [held in connection with Calvinistic Methodist churches] in the Denbigh district (n.d.); a list of preachers who preached ? in the Calvinistic Methodist chapel, Dyserth, 1917-1922; a list of preaching engagements, ? undertaken by Isaac Jones, 1893-1925, with the texts preached upon; sermon notes; and accounts, 1876-1877,? of the Calvinistic Methodist Church, Colwyn.
Jones, Isaac, Betws yn Rhos
A note-book containing eleven Welsh sermons, 1862-1864, by, and in the hand of, Robert Jones Derfel. At the end of each sermon the author has added his signature and a date, and, on five occasions, a place-name (Clynog, Machynlleth, Maentwrog, and Manchester (2)). These signatures, dates, and place-names were subsequently deleted. At the beginning of the volume is a table of contents, and notes, which could be interpreted as suggestions to an editor or publisher, as to the order in which the author would like to see the sermons published, ? in a periodical.

Some fifty letters, 1875-1889, to Elias Hughes, Colwyn Bay, co. Denbigh. Many are replies to invitations to preach at Engedi Calvinistic Methodist church, Colwyn Bay, or to preside at local eisteddfodau but also included are two letters (ff. 14, 19) concerning the injuries sustained by Elias Hughes during the tithe disturbance near Mochdre in 1887 (see Report of an inquiry as to disturbances connected with the levying of tithe rent-charge in Wales (1887), p. 102). Correspondents include Thomas Edward Ellis (1) [1887], John Ceiriog Hughes ('Ceiriog') (1) 1883, Daniel Owen (1) 1886, Joseph Parry (1) 1884, Sarah Jane Rees ('Cranogwen') (2) 1884, 1886, and William Rees ('Gwilym Hiraethog') (2) 1882-1883. Also included are a letter, 1842, to the Reverend William Jones, Amlwch, from David Griffiths, missionary, relating to Madagascar (f. 77), sermon notes in Welsh by William Jones (ff. 80-4), and other miscellaneous items, 1853-1898.

Evan David, Y Groes-faen, Llantrisant, Glamorgan, containing sermons; accounts and other particulars, 1845-1856, relating to Fforest-fawr and other farms in the Llantrisant area (ff. 6-9, 10 verso-11 verso, 14-15); medical and domestic recipes (ff. 5, inverted text 59 recto-verso); and a list of those pledging themselves to total abstinence (inverted text ff. 51 recto-verso, 52 verso). A newspaper account of the funeral of Evan David is on f. 70 verso.
