Records of the army career of Col. Warner Ottley, commissioned sub-lieutenant in the 2nd Dragoon Guards in 1872. There is also a commission to Brooke Taylor Ottley as captain in the Lancashire regiment of fencible cavalry, 1796; an envelope containing a shred of the Queen's Colour carried by the 47th regiment during the Crimean campaign, an obituary notice of Major-General C.G. Ottley, 1890 (reprinted from the Bangalore Daily Post) and a printed letter to Captain C.R. Ottley of the Natal Mounted Police concerning his part in saving the crew of the 'Fascadale', 1895; together with three royal warrants appointing Warner H.T. Ottley a commissioner of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, 1942, 1945, 1948.
