J. B. Bruce, Dyffryn, to Taliesin Williams.

J. B. Bruce, Dyffryn, Aberdare, to Mr Taliesin Williams, Merthyr. Is quite vexed that in the press of business yesterday and conceiving the addressee's note to be on literary subjects he did not open it till he got home. Reference to the Merthyr Beer Houses. If the addressee's client W. J., B. B. H. D., was among those convicted yesterday, he will see what he can do in mitigating costs, etc.

J. Bruce Pryce, Ryde, to Edward Williams, Swan Inn,

J. Bruce Pryce, Manor House, Ryde, I. of Wight, to Mr Edward Williams, Swan Inn, Merthyr Tydvil. If he were a Mussulman he would say that the Fates had interposed to prevent his personal exertions at the Quarter Sessions in the addressee's favour (reference to obtaining an appointment). Was sorry to read in the Guardian the melancholy end of Josiah Richards. Asking him to thank Ab Iolo for his postscript to the addressee's letter. Inscriptions in Carisbrook Churchyard.

J. Bruce Pryce, Dyffryn Goluch, to William Howel,

J. Bruce Pryce, Dyffryn Goluch, Cardiff, to Mr Wm Howel. He will be happy to render all the service in his power with regard to the Sympathetic Society. Underneath is a note for Ab Iolo, telling him, when he goes to London, to call on the writer's son Henry, who will introduce him to Mr Hawkins, the Keeper of the Antiquities there [i.e., at the British Museum]. Mr Barnwell and Sir Henry Ellis. The writer's son William is studying Welsh - a request to Ab Iolo.

J. S. Buckingham, Pall Mall, to Julieson Williams, Merthyr Tydvil,

J. S. Buckingham, 16 Waterloo Place, Pall Mall, London, to Mr Julieson Williams, Merthyr Tydvil. Asking a favour. Will esteem himself greatly obliged if the addressee will address the few extra notes (which are being sent under separate cover) to any friends of his living at a distance and return them to him (JSB) by post, when he will frank them to the parties with a Prospectus of his Review in each.

Edward S. Byam, Crickhowell, to Taliesin Williams,

Edward S. Byam, Mrs Davies' Crickhowell, to Taliesin Williams, esq., Myrthyr Tydvil. Sending the notices of Welsh MSS in the British Museum (i.e. references to the History of Wales, mainly pedigrees). The valuable MSS in the addressee's possession - mention of the writer's limited stay with him yesterday and a request to him to find an elegy giving the death of John Gamage's father, Robert Gamage, probably about 1550 or 1560. Reference to the writer's determination to attend the Cardiff Eisteddfod in Sept. 1834 if possible. A query from Mr Price.

Edward S. Byam, Bath, to Taliesin Williams,

Edward S. Byam, No. 14 Bennett Street, Bath, to Mr Taliesin Williams, Merthyr Tydvill. He has translated [into English] a little work which is just about to issue from the press, called in Welsh 'Drych cywir i ganfod y Gwrthgiliwr' [by the Rev. A. Shadrack] or The Backslider's Mirror, and he would like to obtain the addressee's opinion as to the manner in which he has executed the task. Sending a (printed) copy of a letter received from a Minister [Thos Jay Wren] much commending the work as a religious production. Enclosure.
