Items found loose within the volume, including press cuttings, 1895-1897, have been placed in an archival envelope (4 ff.). The collection, 1735-1778, comprises a 'short account' of Howell Harris's life, a long series of diaries, 1735-1772, memoranda, 'observations' and notes, prayers, a few letters, a note, 1742, on the differences between Howell Harris (and John Whitefield) and John Wesley, a statement, 1744, on Harris's intended marriage, extracts from diaries, spiritual observations, minutes of associations, miscellaneous memoranda and receipts, and a series of notes relating to 'affairs at Trevecka'.

Research and original papers acquired by D. Rhys Phillips, mainly towards a history of the vale of Neath, 1622-1897, including extracts from the letter-books of Alfred Fox of the Neath Abbey Coal Co., 1820-1858, and accounts of the Vale of Neath Railway, 1850-1862; and material towards a history of Swansea, 1622-1814.
