A volume containing 'cywyddau' and some 'englynion' by John Philips, Edmwnd Prys, Lewis Glyn Cothi, M'edydd ap R's, [? Huw Arwystli], ?Thomas Derllysc, Tudur Aled, John Tudyr, John Mowddwy, and Ifan Tew, and an imperfect 'cywydd'. Pp. 41-5, as stated by J. H. Davies in a note on the inside lower cover (and not pp. 35-9 as suggested by J. Gwenogvryn Evans) are in the hand of Sion Tudur. J. H. Davies has also stated, and J. Gwenogvryn Evans also suggested, that pp. 1-17 are in the hand of Edmwnd Prys, but this section is in fact in two hands (pp. 1-9, 9-17), neither of which resembles that of Prys. There are some additions in the hand of David Ellis, Cricieth (1736-95) and some marginal and other additions by Peter Bailey Williams (1763-1836), Llanrug.

The third part of the manuscript contains a transcript of the text of 'Y Gododdin' ('Y Gwawdodyn') in old and modern orthography; an 'awdl' in English ('O michti Ladi, our leding...') by Ieuan ap Rhydderch ap Ieuan Llwyd ('o Ogerddan') or Ieuan ap Hywel Swrdwal, transcribed in 1785 from a manuscript of John Jones (Sion ap Wiliam Sion), Gell[i] Lyfrdy [sic]; and 'cywyddau' and an 'awdl' by Sion Phylip, Huw Arwystl, Sion Keri, Sion Tudur, Ieuan Tew Ieuaf, Sion Tudur ('o Wicwar'), Iorwerth Fynglwyd, Sion Mowddwy, Lewis Glyn Cothi, Sion Dafydd Siancyn, Risart Phylip, and Huw Llwyd Cynfel. At the end of the manuscript is a progressive list of poems ('Cynnwysiad') contained in the second section, an alphabetical index ('Cynnwysiad llyth'rennol') of first lines, an index of poets ('Enwau'r Beirdd') and a progressive list of poems ('Cynnwysiad') contained in the third section, all in the hand of David Ellis, together with an incomplete list of poets contained in the second section in the hand of Owen Williams, Waunfawr ('Owain Gwyrfai'). There are numerous additions, variants, and annotations in the hands of Owen Williams, P[eter Bailey] W[illiams], [Griffith Williams] ('Gutyn Peris'), and [Professor Thomas Gwynn Jones]. The manuscript is bound uniformly with Cwrtmawr MS 10 and 12 and the spine is lettered 'Dafydd Ellis MS'.

There are annotations, variant forms and additions by the scribe (David Ellis), by P[eter Bailey] Williams, Llanrug (1763-1836) and O[wen] W[illiams] ('Owain Gwyrfai'), Waunfawr. The spine is lettered 'David Ellis MS'.

There are annotations and additions by Owen Williams, Waunfawr, Peter Bailey Williams, Llanrug and one annotation by D[aniel] S[ilvan] Evans. The manuscript is bound uniformly with Cwrtmawr MSS 10-11 and the spine is lettered 'Dafydd Ellis MS'.

A collection of poetry almost entirely in free metres entitled 'Casgliad o Gerddi a Charolau ar amryw Destynau O waith amriw Feirdd Cymru'. The manuscript is in the hand of David Ellis, Cricieth, and was written around 1790-1. The poets represented are Arthur Jones ('Clochydd Llan Gadwaladr yn swydd Ddinbych') (1743-56), Morys Roberts (Bala), Huw Thomas (Llandderfel) (1729, 1752), David Ellis (1757-91), Huw Morys, Ellis Rowland (Harlech), William Wynne ('Person Llangynhafal') (1745), Richard Parry ('Athraw Ysgol yn Niwbwrch'), Ellis Cadwaladr (Edeirnion) (1718), Ellis ab Ellis ('Gweinidog Eglwys Rhos a Llan Dudno') (1683), Iolo ap Ieuan, Edward Morris, Edward Jones (Bodffari), Rhys Ellis ('o'r Waun'), David Jones otherwise 'Dafydd hir o Lanfair Talhaiarn', Griffith Edward, Morgan Llwyd (Maentwrog), Edward Samuel ('Person Llangarw gwyn'), and Evan Herbert ('Gweinidog Llan Illtud a Llan Fachreth'). An imperfect composite volume written in a number of hands but mainly in a late sixteenth century hand. The following note by J. H. Davies is written on one of the upper fly-leaves: 'This MS is supposed to be in the hand of Sion Brwynog (see Cwrtmawr MS 11.493). It was copied by the Rev. David Ellis, then of Amlwch in 1777 and was then perfect. The copy is now MS 11 in my collection'. This supposition cannot be correct since Siôn Brwynog died in 1562 and some of the poems were composed after that date. The hand also differs from that in Peniarth MS 61 which J. Gwenogvryn Evans tentatively attributed to Siôn Brwynog (See also Eurys I. Rowlands 'Llaw dybiedig Siôn Brwynog', Cylchgrawn Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru (The National Library of Wales Journal), Vol. VII, pp. 381-2). The volume contains 'cywyddau' and a few 'awdlau' by Mathew Bromffild, Tudur Aled, Jhon Brwynog, Lewys Mon, Jhon Tudur, Rys Goch Glynn Dyfrdwy, Morys ap Ieuan ap Einion [Morus Dwyfech], Gwilym ap Sefnyn, Gvttor Glynn, Howel Reinalld, Wiliam Llyn, Lewis Daron, Dafydd Pennant, Roger Kyffin, Gwilym ap Ifan Hen, Gvttvn Owain, Cynwig ap Dafydd Goch, Owain ap Ll[ewelyn ap y] Moel, Rys Goch yr Yri (Rys goch ap D'd), Robin Ddv Fardd, Tudur Penllyn, Rys Pennarth, Lewys ap Edwart, Lewys Daron, Lewys Menai, Robert Ifans, Lewys Morgannwg, Owain Waed Ta, Gruff. Some of the pages which have been repaired have also been made up by a later hand and the ink in these portions has faded badly. One page of the volume has been made up by J. H. Davies. The spine is lettered 'Llyfr Kywyddau'.

A volume in the hand of D. Silvan Evans containing 'awdlau' and 'cywyddau' by Wiliam Lleyn. The transcripts were made c. 1869 and appear to be taken from more than one source, e.g. a manuscript of Paul Panton, 1779, and a manuscript of W. H. Mounsey based on a manuscript in the hand of [Owen Jones] 'Owen Myfyr'. At the end are 'Tri o'r Chwe Englyn a ddywedir i Ddafydd ab Gwilym wneuthur ar ei Glaf-wely' transcribed by D. Silvan Evans from a manuscript in the hand of ?D[avid] Ellis [Cricieth]. Beginning at the end are three pages of notes on 'Matter'.

That the entire volume is based on a variety of sources is shown by the last entry inserted by the scribe: 'Yr ychydig o hen bethau hyn, a godais I allan o hen Lyfrau pan oeddwn mewn oriau Segur, rhag I Colli hwynt ...'. Inside the lower cover are printed 'Englynion Croesawiad Sior IV. 'Trwy Gymru' by [Hugh Jones] ('H. Erfyl'). There are a few minor entries in the hand of Mary Richards.

A miscellaneous volume (496 pp.; original pagination incorrect) in the autograph of Owen Williams (1790-1874; 'Owain Gwyrfai'), c. 1841-67, of which the main contents are pedigrees of North Wales families transcribed from manuscripts of the Reverend D. Ellis [Cricieth] and Owen Gruffydd, Llanystumdwy and from other sources (with some additions to Owen Williams's own day); transcripts of twenty-four letters, 1752-7 and 1767, from Goronwy Owen to Richard Morris from a (?)manuscript of Mr Loyd [sic], Plasmeini, Festiniog and of eleven letters, 1752-4, from Goronwy Owen to William Morris ('D.S. Dyma lythyrau'r Gwiliedydd im tyb i. O.W.', but this seems doubtful), and extracts transcribed from the introduction to Lewis Morris's 'Celtic Remains' and from [John Reynolds, A Display of Herauldry (1739)] ('Yr hanesion canlynol a dynwyd o hen lyfr achau a argraffwyd o ddeutu amser Cromwel o waith Reinols'). There is a rough index at the beginning and end of the volume. J. H. Davies has written the following note in pencil on the fly-leaf: 'This is the Llyfr Coch which O[wen] W[illiams] always carried under his arm at Eisteddfodau & Literary meetings. It was originally bound in a red cover.'.

The volume was bound by Lewis Edward for Lewis David in 1762. The first thirty pages are entitled 'the compleat horseman And exbert farrier'. The poetry appears to have been transcribed c. 1791-5, possibly by Peter Bailey Williams, from other manuscripts (mention is made of copying from manuscripts in the hand of Dd. Ellis, Person Crickaeth, Evan Evans, Prydydd Hir, and Lewis Morris). The text is imperfect in places, and there are some later additions, including an English translation by Peter B. Williams of 'Marwnad Lleucu Llwyd' by Llywelyn Goch ap Meurig hên and 'englynion' copied by P. B. W[illiams] in Lampeter churchyard, August 1817. Several folios have been removed at the end of the volume but the pagination is continuous.

A manuscript containing a transcript of the text of 'Y Gododdin', in old and modern orthography; an adjudication by Owen Jones ('Owain Myfyr') and Rob[er]t Hughes ('Robin Ddu o Fôn') on an elegy to Mr [Richard] Morys, President of the Honourable Society of Cymrodorion; 'Awdl ar y Testyn Jubili Mor-glawdd Tre' Fadog' by Dafydd Thomas ('D[afydd] Ddu o Eryri'), 1811; and 'Beirniadaeth Gymreig' being reviews ('Ad-olwg') by D. Thomas ('o Arfon'), 1812, of 'Awdl ar Amaethyddiaeth' by Walter Davies ['Gwallter Mechain'] and a similar composition by Edwd. Hughes ['Y Dryw'], both submitted to an eisteddfod at Tre' Fadog, 1811. The text of the 'Gododdin' is in the hand of David Ellis (1736-95), vicar of Cricieth, and the remainder of the manuscript in the hand of David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri', 1759-1822).
