Wilhelmi Schickardi Horologium Ebraeum ... editio ultima ... (Apud Johannem à Sambix: Ultrajecti 1661), with the mark of ownership and textual additions in the hand of 'Richard Robert Jones [('Dic Aberdaron')] of the Parish of Aberdaron Lleyn Caernarvonshire North Wales'. On the same page is written the name of John Peter ('Ioan Pedr'), Bala, 1871, who has added the following annotations: 'Dic Aberdaron a ysgrifenodd yr uchod a'i law ei hun. Byddai weithiau yn defnyddio s ar ddiwedd yr enw canol, ac yn ei sillebu yn 'Roberts'. Gwelais ef yn cam sillebu Cymraeg a Seisonaeg fel hyn - 'Richard Roberts Jones ydi gwir berchenog y llyfr hwn', 'R.R.J. is the rite owner of this book. J. P. Gor. 29. 1871'.

A small account-book containing a transcript of manuscript autobiographical material of Richard Robert Jones ('Dic Aberdaron')(cf. NLW Deposit 324A). Loose in the volume is a note from John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), Chwilog to a Mr Davies enquiring about its price as everything relating to 'Dic Aberdaron' is valuable to him. At the reverse end are notes by D[avi]d Davies [cf. Cwrtmawr MS 519], who may be the transcriber of the Dic Aberdaron material. There are also some verses said to be by Josiah Hughes, Trefynon [sic] and John Elias, Môn written in another hand and pasted into the volume.

An album of mounted cuttings (from Y Gwladgarwr, Y Drych, Yr Herald Cymraeg, Baner ac Amserau Cymru, etc.) containing biographies and material relating to the life and work of Richard Robert Jones ('Dic Aberdaron'). The volume was compiled, with holograph annotations, by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). The spine is lettered 'Dic Aberdaron'.

A manuscript in the hand of Richard Robert Jones ('Dic Aberdaron; 1780-1843) containing a Greek grammar entitled 'Egwyddorion Grammadeg Groeg' compiled in 1836 from the grammar of Thomas Stackhouse [i.e. Graecae Grammatices Rudimenta, 1762] and others. Tipped into the volume at the end are The Royal Prophetic Annual, 1837, and a sheet containing an illustration of a harp, with explanatory notes in Greek, and on the dorse is a Hebrew text.

A volume containing holograph manuscripts and letters of Richard Robert Jones ('Dic Aberdaron', 1780-1843) comprising portions of an autobiography and notes and letters containing much autobiographical material. Most of the letters, 1837-43, are written from poor lodging houses in Liverpool (many addresses, such as Chisenhale Street, located mainly in the Vauxhall Road area). They describe his misfortunes and deplorable living conditions and also his dreams. There are several references to his Welsh, Greek and Hebrew dictionary and attempts to get it published. A few of the letters, 1840 and 1841, are written from Caernarvon (to Mr Evan Griffith, a sailor, Waterloo Street). There is one letter, 1841, containing drawings and abuse addressed to Richard Robert Jones, Rose Court, No. 1 Chisenall [sic] Street, Liverpool. The other manuscripts include a short work entitled 'The ancient order of harps described according to Greek rules taken from Claudius Ptolemaius ... compared with the old harps of Great Britain by Richard Robert Jones ... of Aberdaron ... 1820', containing a drawing of a harp with descriptive notes in Greek, the text which describes the arrangement of various harps is also in Greek. The manuscript bears a note in pencil 'Presented to me by the writer R. J. at Llwynybrain 1827 St Geo A[rmstrong] W[illiams]'. There is another copy of the text and a similar description of the harp in note form, also in Greek, and a single sheet with a similar drawing of the harp and parallel texts in Latin and Greek of Luke X, 5-11, and an extract from Rabbinic teaching in English and Hebrew. The single sheet bears the note 'Richard Jones (Dic Aberdaron) 1820 - Given to me by Dic himself in the year 1827 St Geo A[rmstrong] Wms'. The other manuscripts consist of short notes, transcripts and translations, mainly in Latin, Greek, English and Hebrew, relating to the Greek and French calendar, 'Zoroastres the Prince of the Magi', the herb Hyoscyamus and its medical attributes, partly extracted from the works of Galen and Pliny, and an extract from [ ] Guerre de l'Amerique, Livre 3, pp. 27-8, relating to the Tories (Loyalists) (French, with an English translation), etc. There is a list, which includes most of the manuscripts, compiled by J. Glyn Davies, 19 November 1892, on which is written the following note by J. H. Davies: 'This list was drawn up by J. Glyn Davies when the MSS belonged to Mr. T. G. Williams I bought them from Mr. Williams & have added a few myself'. There are also letters (3) from Professor T. Witton Davies, 1915, to J. H. Davies, which refer to the manuscripts of 'Dic Aberdaron' and to a volume (Cwrtmawr 50(ii)) of press-cuttings relating to him which had been lent to the writer by J. H. Davies.

A volume of seventy-three holograph letters of David Williams ('Dewi Heli'; 1799-1869), Castell Deudraeth, Penrhyndeudraeth. They comprise: (A) Thirty-six letters from Bronhaulog [parish of Ceidio, Caernarvonshire], Llanfyllin, Pwllheli, etc. to John Thomas ['Sion Wyn o Eifion'], Chwilog, 1816-46 (books read by the writer and the addressee; critical observations on poetry mutually exchanged by the writer and the addressee; an opinion on contemporary English poets; the writer's illness; the writer's opinion of 'Mr Williams Werne' and of 'witty Preachers'; references to Welsh books and periodicals, e.g. Gorchestion Beirdd Cymru, Seren Gomer, etc.; the suspension of the Habeas Corpus Act; observations on the dictionary of [William] Owen [-Pughe] and an appreciation of his works; the writer's love of music and of musical instruments, with special references to the flute; an appreciation of [David Thomas] 'Dafydd Ddu [Eryri]'; the writer's study of globes; French books from Plashen for the writer; the writer's desire to improve his mastery of Welsh; an opinion on the administering of the Sacrament to the addressee; numerous references to the addressee's health; a report of the Lleyn-Eifionydd Bible Society written by the writer; an appreciation of Miss Higginbottom, 'a female literary character' well known to the addressee, and the writer's meeting with her; copies of the compositions of 'Pedrog Penfoul alias T. Williams' [i.e. Thomas Williams ('Twm Pedrog'), see Cwrtmawr MS 559 p. 214]; critical observations on Richard Edwards [recte Richard Robert Jones], 'commonly called Dic Aberdaron'; references to the writer's schooling at Chester; the writer's removal to his brother at Llanfyllin and his impressions of the 'literary advantages' of the town; urges the addressee to publish some of his writings; competitions at the Brecon eisteddfod (1822); a request on behalf of 'a literary female character' in Liverpool for manuscript entries by the addressee, David Owen ['Dewi Wyn o Eifion'] and R[ober]t Williams ['Robert ap Gwilym Ddu'] in a volume of 'Scrapiana'; reflections on the writer's electioneering activities; the writer's marriage (1842) and his change of residence and offices; a gift of a sovereign to the addressee from charities distributed by Lady Parry, Madryn; an opinion on 'the old woman's will'; the writer's estate agency and the payment of the addressee's rent; etc.); (B) Thirty seven letters from Pwllheli, Bron Eryri (afterwards Castell Deudraeth), etc. to Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd'), Clynnog, 1830-60 (an opinion on a notice to quit on 'the person with whom you lodge'; the completion of a lease by the writer for the addressee; an offer to the addressee of the post of Relieving Officer; the addressee's application for the post of master of Troedyrallt Free School, Pwllheli; an offer to the addressee of the management of the writer's office in Pwllheli; the rent required for a property in Llangybi; offers to secure employment for the recipient's son in a solicitor's office; the writer's retirement; the writer's reason for changing the name of his residence from Bron Eryri to Castell Deudraeth; the writer's fortune and his purchase of property; the writer's 'contemptible opinion' of the proposed Llangollen eisteddfod (1858); the compilation of the Saethon pedigree with the assistance of materials from the addressee; a request for information on the antiquities of Ardudwy; writer considers 'that the age of Eisteddfodau, for all useful purposes, is gone by' and that this age is 'the age of Progress and scientific discoveries ... (London, 1822); particulars of the 'Phrenological development of Richard Jones'; three holograph letters from H[ugh] Humphreys, Carnarvon to [Joseph] Mayer, Goldsmith, Liverpool, 1848 (the loan of a woodcut and thanks for information towards a biography of 'Dic Aberdaron' to be published by the writer); a pencil drawing and water-colour copy, together with wood and other engravings of 'Dic Aberdaron'; etc.
