A volume containing a dictionary of rhymes (i.e. lists of Welsh words arranged according to word endings e.g. adafaela, adara, ... ysgwyddwisg, yswythbysg) in the hand of Evan Evan ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'). Beginning at the end of the volume are a list, in the same hand, of selections from the New Testament appropriate for reading on specified Sundays, and a draft of a 'pryddest', 1 December 1885, on 'Dyffryn Conwy' by 'Hanesydd' i.e. William John Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd') composed for an eisteddfod at Llanrwst. Watermark: 1834.

Tune book, watermarks 1812, of Evan Evans ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd', 1795-1855), containing psalm-tunes, hymn-tunes and anthems. The volume includes 'Ton y Meudwy wedi ei hysgrifenu a phwyntel gan E. Evans ai hadysgrifo mor gywir ac y gellio ac inc gan G Cowlyd' (ff. 23 verso-24 recto).

A collection of papers, 1831-1949, relating to John Jones ('Talhaiarn'), accumulated by his great-niece Lilian M. Jones.
They include holograph poems and lyrics in English and Welsh, [1843]-1868, mostly composed, but some copied, by Talhaiarn (ff. 1-24). Also included are fifty-three letters, 1857-1868, from the poet to his niece, Elizabeth Anne Jones, with some holograph poems appended (ff. 25-124); seven letters, 1848-1869, from him to family members and his publisher W. J. Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd') (ff. 125-37); four letters, 1869-1870, to his brother Thomas Jones (ff. 147-54), including three from John Thomas ('Pencerdd Gwalia'); a letter, 1870, from John Thomas ('Pencerdd Gwalia') to Elizabeth Jones (ff. 155-6); and three letters, 1939-1940, to Lilian Jones (ff. 157-60). In addition, the file contains various papers relating to Talhaiarn and his family, including the signed title page of his second volume of works, 1862 (f. 161), lists of subscribers to his third volume of works (ff. 163-4), and to the Talhaiarn Annuity Fund, 1864 (ff. 166 verso-167); administrative papers, 1869-1871, relating to his estate (ff. 169-83); press cuttings, 1869-1949 (mainly 1869-1870) (ff. 184-99); and various papers, including a copy of Talhaiarn's 'Gorsedd Prayer' in an unknown hand (f. 205). Among the works by Talhaiarn are the holograph poems to his niece, Elizabeth Anne Jones (ff. 1, 2, 4-8, 23, 42-3), 'The Zephyr and the Rose' (f. 9), 'Diver' (ff. 10-13), 'Psalm' (f. 14-15, 67), and the printed lyrics of 'A part song on the coming of age of William Grenville Williams', Bodelwyddan, 1865 (f. 17). Also included is a cutting of a tribute by Talhaiarn to Sir Joseph Paxton (f. 17 verso).

Sixty holograph letters and incomplete letters, 1859-1887 and undated, written by Evan Jones, The Printing Office (Post and Stamp Offices), 1 High Street, Portmadoc. The majority of the letters are addressed to his brother Owen [Evan Jones], but there are a few to his father [John Jones, 'Pyll Glan Conwy'], to his sister Catherine, and to his nephew John [J. Lloyd]. Among the subjects discussed are news of relatives and friends; money matters; printing processes, equipment, and estimates, with references to publications by the writer and the recipients; the whereabouts of the schooner 'Margaret Jones'; advice in the matter of Thomas Davies's bankruptcy; the death of P. M. A volume containing transcripts, 1890, by William John Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd') from Llanstephan MS 182, part i, ff. 1-25v, one of a group of manuscripts which had belonged to Angharad Llwyd (see note under 'Tarddiad'). Included are 'Llyma ossedigaethau y Dernas o waith Dyfnwal Moel Mwdd ...' (ff. 6-7v), 'Llyma y modd i ranwyd ac i mesurwyd, ac y rifwyd Cantrefydd a Chwmwdau holl Gymru, yn amser Llewelyn ap Gruffydd ...' (ff. 8-13), and an English version of 'Y pedwar brenin ar hugain cadarnaf' (ff. 51-60). Interleaved between ff. 14 and 49 is an imperfect copy, wanting title page, pp. 1-6, 68-72, of George Owen Harry, The genealogy of ... James ... king of great Brittayne ... (London, 1604), with notes by 'Gwilym Cowlyd' on f. 50 and by R. D. Roberts on ff. 13v-14, 35v, 49.

An album, begun by Sarah Wilson, 1827, containing copies of English poetry by James Montgomery, Felicia Hemans, T. K. Harvey, M. A. Browne, George Crabbe, and others. In 1883, the album was used by Padarn Davies, who copied into it the text of 'y sidg o Droea' with the following colophon: 'Gwallter Archiagon Rhydychain a droes y darn hwn o'r cronicl o Lading i Gymraeg. Davies containing a chronological list of printed books in Welsh and of Welsh interest, 1599-1886 and undated, being the first lot purchased by him from William John Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd') 'a day or two' before the latter's sale [in April 1897]. At the end of the volume, partly in the hand of J. H. Davies, are particulars of gaps in files of newspapers, periodicals, etc. (Y Goleuad, Trysorfa y Plant, Welsh Gazette, and Welsh Piety) in the Cwrtmawr library.
