Rental of Strata Florida Abbey, etc.

'A Booke or Rent Booke' of rents, duties, customs and services due and payable upon the tenants of the possessions of the late suppressed monastery of Strataflorida, Cardiganshire for one year ending at the feast of St Luke the Evangelist (18 Oct.) 1608. Used as a protective cover, and bearing additional accounts is a lease, 1595, for 20 years from Gelly Meyrick and Henry Lyndley, esquires, to William Warren of Trewern, Pembrokeshire, esquire, of the grange of Castell Cossam, late parcel of the possessions of the late dissolved monastery of Whytland, Carmarthenshire.

Strata Florida rent roll,

A notebook containing extracts transcribed by J. H. Davies (a) 'from a Translation of Rent Roll for the Manors &c of the monastery of Strata Florida' [see Cwrtmawr MS 873D] and (b) from a copy of the defendant's answer, 14 May 1743, in a lawsuit between Dorothy, Lady Lisburne, and Wilmot (Vaughan), Viscount Lisburne, containing lists of rents and tenants' names. The original of (b) is inserted loose in the notebook (pp. 1-2 wanting) and there is also a letter to J. H. Davies from Herbert M. Vaughan, Llangoedmore, Cardigan, who was the owner, it seems, of the document. Also within the notebook are observations by S. M. P[owell] headed 'Pant. Tregaron' and beginning 'Some things struck Mr Lloyd and myself in reading your notes.'.
