Papers of Bodfan, 1893-1935, comprising letters received by him, 1899-1935, mainly from friends discussing current literary trends and etymological and lexicographical matters; sermons, 1895-1901; miscellaneous poems, notes and printed matter, 1905-1933; and papers, mainly notebooks, relating to his brother Sir Edward Anwyl, 1893-1918.

The series comprises personal letters written from Oxford, Cardiff, London and other places discussing his career and professional activities, as well as illuminating the complex relationship, full of tensions and problems, between husband and wife. The letters also refer to many members of the family and to a host of prominent contemporary figures, amongst them Sir Edward Anwyl, Thomas Edward Ellis, Sir John Morris-Jones, Sir John Rhys and Daniel Lleufer Thomas. There are many references to Llanuwchllyn and Penllyn more generally and to O. M. Edwards's wide-ranging services to Wales, including his editorship of a number of journals and his work as Chief Inspector of Schools in Wales after 1907.

Notebooks of Thomas (Tom) Jones, Trealaw, containing a draft of 'A Glossary of the Welsh of Glamorgan', 1907, with manuscript and typescript additions and corrections, and pasted-in newspaper cuttings, c. 1908 - c. 1936. Submitted for competition, under the pseudonym 'Meurig', at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Swansea, 1907, the essay was awarded joint first prize, with that of Thomas Christopher Evans ('Cadrawd'). A letter, 1910, from Sir Edward Anwyl has been tipped in on f. iii of MS 23476.

Two composite volumes of notebooks containing transcripts by J. H. Davies, c. 1891-7, with some emendations and variant forms, of 'awdlau' and 'cywyddau' by Tudur Aled. The transcripts are mainly from BM Add. MSS. Both volumes contain lists of contents and indexes to first lines of poems and MS 155 also includes additional miscellaneous notes and transcripts, e.g. the introductions to Y Drych Cristianogawl (1585) and Hugh Owen: Dilyniad Iesu Grist (1684). Inset is a note inscribed 'Gyda Diolch diffuant E A[nwyl]'.

Two copies, the second incomplete, of a collection of 'Hen Benillion' compiled probably by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). The first copy (not in the autograph of' Myrddin Fardd' except for some alterations and additions) appears to be part (pp. 494-573) of a larger work and is headed "Pen. XIV - Crynodeb o Hen Bennillion Gwerinol' (the word 'diardd[el]' has been added to the title at a later date). The second copy is in the autograph of 'Myrddin Fardd' and is earlier in date but the beginning and end are wanting and the section here (pp. 29-72) corresponds to pp. 523-566 in the other copy. Between these two copies is a printed article by E. Anwyl, Oxford on 'Penillion telyn y Cymry' [Y Geninen, 1891], pp. 251-4.

Cyclostyled questionnaires issued by Section I (The Faith and its Interpretation) of The Free Church Commission (undated, one under the name of [Sir] Ed[ward] Anwyl, Chairman), together with a covering circular letter; and an autograph letter from J. Scott Lidgett, Bermondsey Settlement, London, to E. O. Davies, 1922 (the work of the Commission).
