The file comprises scripts of three broadcasts concerning David Jones and his work: a review of an exhibition of his paintings in Edinburgh, 21 November 1954; a review of The Anathemata, 19 December 1952; and a talks feature entitled 'David Jones', compiled and introduced by Goronwy Rees and with contributions by T. S. Eliot, Saunders Lewis, Nicolette Gray and Gwyn Williams, 29 Oct. 1954, produced by Aneirin Talfan (two copies of the script, one corrected by David Jones).

Over a hundred letters, 1938-1968, to Vernon Watkins, with a few addressed to Mrs Gwen Watkins, from various correspondents (surnames A-G), including Douglas Cleverdon (14) 1958-1968, Cyril Connolly (1) 1947, T. S. Eliot (1 transcript) 1947, and Roy Fuller (1) 1967.

One hundred and twenty-four autograph letters, 1959-1974, from painter-poet David ('Dafydd') Jones, all addressed to Valerie ('Elri') Wynne-Williams (née Price), with the exception of two to her husband Michael ('Mihangel') (ff. 54, 112-113) and one to them both (ff. 55-56), discussing a variety of topics including his, and her, health and living conditions, his work, his friends, the Welsh language and Welsh history and politics. The file comprises manuscript draft letters by David Jones to W. H. Auden relating to The Anathemata, 1954, and to T. S. Eliot relating to his illustration of 'The cultivation of Christmas Trees', 1953, with a manuscript letter (and typescript copy) from Jim Ede to David Jones, 1928, and a typescript copy of a 'Description of project' submitted by David Jones to the Bollingen foundation, c. 1960.

Amongst the subjects discussed in these letters are The Anathemata (referred to as 'a thing I've been struggling with for some years' in a draft letter to Colin Hardie dated 11 July 1945); Welsh history and the Welsh language (subjects which appear in several of these letters); 'The Fatigue' (1965); an inscription for the ordination of Peter Levi (1964, 1967); 'the general civilizational predicament vis-à-vis 'the arts''; the vernacularization of the Mass ('I've wasted hours & hours & days & days, writing & destroying letters addressed to The Tablet---', 1965); 'my new piece' ('The Sleeping Lord', 1967); Rembrandt (in a draft letter to Lord Clark, 1966); 'The Wall' (1967); Roman roads (1967); his family background and 'The Dream of Private Clitus' (in a draft letter to Louis Bonnerot, n.d.). There is a draft letter of condolence to Valerie Eliot on the death of her husband, T. S. Eliot.
