Anti poll tax campaign

Comprises correspondence, press cuttings, posters and other miscellaneous papers, 1989-1991, relating to the campaign against the community charge. Councillor Ray Davies was imprisoned at Gloucester Gaol for fourteen days during October 1991 because of his refusal to pay the charge. The correspondents include Tony Benn, 1991, and Ron Davies, 1991.

These include the campaign to save Caerphilly hospital, the movement to lend support to Ron Davies MP following the incident on Clapham Common, Councillor Davies's visit to Iraq in 1999, the re-development of Bedwas colliery, and peace campaigns.
