Letter from a far country,

Typescript copies of poems, some drafts, for Letter from a far country (Manchester, 1982), together with correspondence and other papers relating to the book, 1981-1984, with a copy of the agreement between author and publisher. In addition, the file contains letters regarding permission to use poems by Gillian Clarke, most of which appear to have been included in the volume, in other publications. Among the correspondents are Fred Jones (4); Enid Luff; and Peter Forbes. -- The file also includes a script containing manuscript notes of the radio ode 'Letter from a far country', written and read by Gillian Clarke, 1979; together with manuscript and typescript drafts of the poem and related correspondence, 1978-1979.

Poems & Prints: A celebration of word and image

Material relating to a 'Poems and Prints' event which took place at Oriel y Bont Gallery, University of Glamorgan, 19 September - 21 October 1994 and which featured the work of Welsh and Anglo-Welsh poets (including Tony Curtis) and Welsh-American artists. Material includes correspondence between Tony Curtis and participating artists (including Fred Jones, landscape painter and emeritus professor at Western Illinois University, who opened the event) and curricula vitae of participating artists. The Alchemy of Water/Alcemi Dŵr (Gwasg Gomer/Y Lolfa, 2013)

Material relating to the compilation and publication of The Alchemy of Water / Alcemi Dŵr, published by Gwasg Gomer Press/Y Lolfa in 2013, comprising poems by Tony Curtis and draft Introduction to the volume, with amendments by Curtis. Reference to Professor Fred Jones, whose own landscape photography helped inspire the volume (see https://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/wales/entries/602af559-0493-3292-a50f-98ebff2ae1e3).

The Alchemy of Water/Alcemi Dŵr (Gwasg Gomer/Y Lolfa, 2013)

Bound copy, prior to its publication, of The Alchemy of Water/Alcemi Dŵr, later to be published by Gwasg Gomer/Y Lolfa in 2013, containing photographs of Welsh landscapes taken by painter Fred Jones, Emeritus Professor at Western Illinois University, alongside poetry in English by Tony Curtis and in Welsh by poet and writer Grahame Davies written in response to the photographs. The volume also contains an Introduction by Fred Jones and is inscribed by Jones to Tony Curtis: 'Tony, May you have a long, wonderful retirement Fred Jones 2009'. Professor Fred Jones's photography was not ultimately utilised in the published volume (see https://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/wales/entries/602af559-0493-3292-a50f-98ebff2ae1e3).
