An album compiled by John Lloyd James ('Clwydwenfro'), Congregational minister at March, Cambridgeshire, etc. The volume is almost wholly of Congregational interest, and relates for the most part to Glandwr Church, Pembrokeshire, and to the activities of John Davies ('Siôn Gymro' otherwise 'Siôn Llethi' otherwise 'Ioan Llethi'), who was ordained minister of the church in 1827. Letters mainly addressed to Hugh Jones ('Cromwell o Went'). Most of the letters have sermon notes by Hugh Jones on their blank pages, and many are concerned solely with preaching engagements. Somerset, 1540-1674; poetry by John Blackwell ['Alun'] ('o Wyddgrug'), [Thomas Evans] 'Tho[ma]s Glyn Cothi', David ap Ieuan ap Rhydderch (i.e., David Davies, Castell Hywel), Siams Dafydd ('Iago ab Dewi'), 'Gwilym Tew Glan Taf', Edw. Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'), Henry Thomas ('Don Glantowy') (a poem entitled 'Bryn Grongaer' written without a single apostrophe), and the Reverend John Evans, Coed (1808-1819); lists of freeholders and of land- and householders sworn at Carmarthen, 1764; a description of 'Caermarthen Civic Emblems'; 'Old Welsh Phrases. Collected by Mr. Lloyd Morgan, of Llanidloes', almost entirely taken from William Owen [-Pughe]: A Dictionary of the Welsh Language, vol. I (London, 1803); a transcript of George Owen's Brief Account of Wales; etc. There is a list of contents of the first volume and an alphabetical index to the second volume. Inserted as a frontispiece to the first volume is an etched view of the quay and town of Carmarthen, 1868, by D. Jones, and to the second volume an engraving of the bridge and town, and in the text there are a number of pen-and-ink illustrations.

Nine letters, 1827-1832, from the Reverend Samuel Roberts ['S.R.'], seven to his parents (addressed 'Rev. John Roberts, Llanbrynmair') and two to the Reverend Edward Davies, Newtown, the places from which they were written (in chronological order rather than order of binding) being Fountain-Hall, Cwm Tawy, St. Julian's Friars [Shrewsbury], Birmingham, Daventry, Attercliffe (with a note also from the Reverend J. W. H. Pritchard), [Wern and Oswestry], London (2), and Kilvey House near Swansea. In 1828 Samuel Roberts was collecting money [towards discharging a debt on Carno chapel, co. Montgomery (see NLW MS 14062B)] and in the early part of 1829 he was in London collecting money, probably for a different cause; there are letters belonging to the same period in NLW MS 590C. Other subjects mentioned include Drych [y dadleuwr] by [Richard Jones, Wern, Llanfrothen], and various meetings in London and elsewhere.
