Gwydir estate

The Gwydir estate proper did not become part of the Wynnstay estate, but passed to the Dukes of Ancaster through the marriage of Robert, Lord Willoughby of Eresby, duke of Ancaster, and Mary, sole daughter and heiress of Sir Richard Wynn, 4th bart (dec. 1674). However, a rental for 1680 of the Gwydir estate and two rentals for 1671 of Gwydir property in co. Mer. are found amongst the general rentals of the Wynnstay estate. The rentals comprise property in p's [Aber] (t. Y Wig), Betws-y-coed and Llandudno, co. Caern; p's Llanrwst, Llanddoged, Gwytherin, Llanfair Talhaearn, Llaneilian-yn-Rhos, Llansanffraid Glan Conwy, Llanrhaeadr-yng-Nghinmeirch and Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr, co. Denb.; p's Llangar, Llandrillo-yn-Edeirnion, Gwyddelwern, Llanfor and Llandderfel, co. Mer.; and p's Isleworth, Heston, co. Mddx. L1311 (1671) contains only property in p's Llandderfel and Llandrillo-yn-Edeirnion, co. Mer. R4/6 (1671) contains only property in p's Llandderfel, Gwyddelwern, Llangar and Llanfor, co. Mer. Plas-y-ward estate

The estate originally comprised property p's Llanynys (t's Maesmaencymro, Gyffeilliog), Llanfwrog (t. Bodangharad), Ruthin, Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd, Bodfari (t. Aberchwiler), Llandyrnog, Llanhychan, Llangwm in commote of Dinmael, the lordship of Llwynydd and Rhisgog, all in co. Denb. In 1697, property in p's Derwen, Llanelidan and Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd, co. Denb., and p. Llandrillo-yn-Edeirnion (t's Garthiaen, Branas Isaf), co. Mer., is added. In 1701, property in p's Penmorfa, Beddgelert, Dolwyddelan, Capel Curig, Penmachno, Llanberis, Dwygyfylchi and Llanfairfechan, co. Caern., is also added. Sir William Williams bought the Glantant estate in 1679, and it appears in the Glascoed collection in 1680. The Plas-y-ward estate is combined with the Glascoed collection, 1704-1715 (R12-R13). From 1712 (R13) property in p. Llanynys (t's Trefechan, Ysgeibion) and [p. Llanrhaeadr-yng-Nghinmeirch] (t. Pentrellech) is added. RA8 (1653) contains property in p. Oswestry (t's Trefonnen, Treflach), Shropshire. R4/8 contains an inventory of the goods and chattels of Edward Thelwall of Plasyward, co. Denb., esq., appraised in Jan. 1677. Collection III: Llwydiarth estate (Llanfihangel collection); Glascoed, Llanforda, Plas-y-ward B; Llanfair collection; Carno collection; Purchased estate

Collection III comprises the following: (i) Llwydiarth estate (Llanfihangel collection), comprising property in p's Llanfihangel-yng-Ngwynfa (t's Llwydiarth, Cefncleisiog, Dolwar, Rhiwlas, Halfen, Fach-wen, Farchwel, Llaethbwlch), Llanwddyn (t. Garthbwlch), Meifod, Welshpool, and Llanfyllin, cos Mont. and Denb.; (ii) Glascoed, Llanforda, Plas-y-ward B, comprising property in p's Llandrinio, Llanllugan, Llanwyddelan, Manafon and Mochdre, and Llanfair Caereinion tithes, all in co. Mont.; (iii) Llanfair collection, comprising property in p's Llanfair Caereinion, Llangynyw, Llanerfyl, Llangadfan and Garthbeibio, co. Mont.; (iv) Carno collection, comprising property in p. Collection V: Maenan Lordship and other properties; Glascoed, Llanforda, Plas-y-ward B; Glasinfryn and Gwydir estates

Collection V comprises the following properties: (i) Maenan lordship, co. Caern, and property in p's Eglwys-bach, Llangernyw, Llansanffraid Glan Conwy, Betws Abergele, Llandrillo-yn-Rhos (ii) Glascoed, Llanforda, Plas-y-ward B, comprising property in p's Dwygyfylchi, Llanfair-fechan, Llanberis, Penmorfa, Beddgelert, Dolwyddelan, Capel Curig, Penmachno; (iii) Glasinfryn and Gwydir Estates, comprising properties in p's Conwy (t. Y Gyffin), Clynnog, Llanberis, [Waun-fawr formerly Llanbeblig] (t. Treflan), Pwllheli, Llanfair-is-gaer, Llanrug, Bangor, and Caernarfon town, all co. Caern, and in p. Llysfaen, co. Denb. Tithe rentals, co. Mont.

Tithe rents in p. Llangurig (t's Cefn (yr) hafodau, Glyngynwydd, Glynhafren, Glynbrochan, Llanifyny, Llaniwaered), p. Llanidloes (t's Cilmachallt, Brithdir, Treflyn), p. Trefeglwys (t's Esgeiredd, Glyntrefnant, Dolgwden, Faerdref), and p. Llanfair Caereinion (t's Rhosaflo, Brynelen, Cil-yr-ych, Rhiwhiriarth, Llanloddian, Bryn-glas, Dol-ged, Llanfair, Gwenynog and Pen-tyrch), all in co. Mont. With regard to the dates in this series, R47/3, for example, would contain a rental for the year 1779 (not necessarily collected in 1779). Collectors: Edward Devereux 1780, 1783-4. R51/3 (1787) contains a rental of Llanfair Caereinion tithe corn for 1787, while the remaining rentals only contain the tithes for p's Llangurig, Llanidloes and Trefeglwys. After R63/16 (1807), the tithes for p's Llangurig, Llanidloes and Trefeglwys are contained in the Arwystli collection, while rentals of p. Llanfair Caereinion tithes are contained in a separate collection.

Collection IV

From 1783 onwards, Collection IV is divided into three as follows: (1) Glascoed, Llanforda, Plas-y-ward A and B, Denbighshire; Glascoed, Llanforda, Plas-y-ward B, Denbighshire; Lordship of Cynllaith Owain chief rents; and Llwydiarth estate (Llangedwyn collection); (2) Glascoed, Llanforda, Plas-y-ward A, Shropshire; and (3) Manor of Much Wenlock.

Chwaen Isaf estate

This is the ancestral estate of the Williamses of Chwaen Isaf, co. Ang., inherited by Sir William Williams (d. 1700). It comprised property in p's Llantrisant, Llanfihangel [Tre'r Beirdd?], Llechylched, Llanfaelog, Trewalchmai, Llanrhuddlad, Llaneilian, Llandrygarn, Llangristiolus, Llandysilio, Penmynydd, Pentraeth, Beaumaris, Llanwenllwyfo, Amlwch and Llan-faes, all in co. Ang. The estate disappears from the rentals after 1692.

Maenan lordship and other properties in co's Caern and Denb.

Maenan lordship, co. Caern, and properties in p's Eglwys-bach and Llangernyw, co. Denb., are combined from 1683 (L1301) with property in p's Llansanffraid Glan Conwy and Betws Abergele, co. Denb., and p. Penmachno, co. Caern. Property purchased from William Robinson, esq., in p's Llansanffraid Glan Conwy and Llandrillo-yn-Rhos (t. Eirias) is added in 1691 (R8/9). A property in Wrexham is also added from 1684 (L1301) to 1691 (R8/9). R3/5 (1629), R6/7 (1671), R4/7 (1671) and R4/9 (1680) contain property in Commote of Isaf. Stanwardine collection

Property in Stanwardine, [p. Baschurch], co. Shrop., and p. Holt, co. Denb. From R10/1 (1707) onwards, property in p's Wrexham and Broughton is added; from R10/9 (1712) onwards, property in p. Is-y-Coed, previously contained in the Wynnstay Home Rents Collection, is also added. R9/6a and R9/6b contain property in Holt only. Collection I

From 1786 onwards Collection I is divided into three parts: (1i) Rhiwgoch estate; (2ii) Glascoed, Llanforda, Plas-y-ward B (co. Mer.); (2iii) Manor of Valle Crucis (p. Llanfrothen), (2iv) Llanfair collection (p. Mallwyd), (2v) Glan-llyn estate, (2vi) Purchased estate 1768 (p. Llanuwchllyn);. (3Vi) Purchased estate 1768 (p. Llangedwyn), (3vii) Llwydiarth estate, (Llangedwyn collection), (3viii) Llwydiarth estate (Mochnant collection), (3ix) Glascoed, Llanforda, Plas-y-ward B (co. Mont.).

Estate of John Mostyn

The estate of John Mostyn, esq., in cos Mer., and Denb., whereof Mr Francis Chambre is appointed receiver in pursuance of an order of the Court of Chancery, made 6 Feb. 1777, in a cause where Sir Rowland Hill, bart, and Sir Watkin Williams Wynn, bart (on behalf of themselves and the rest of the creditors of the said John Mostyn who should come in and contribute to that suit) are plaintiffs, and John Mostyn and Robert Wynne, esq's, are defendants. R52/4a-e (1788) contains only property in p. Gwyddelwern, co. Mer., in p's Derwen, Gyffylliog, Henllan, Ruthin, Denbigh and Llanrhaeadr [-yng-Nghinmeirch], co. Denb., and p. Hawarden, co. Flint. From R58/2 onwards, the estate of the late John Mostyn, in mortgage to Sir Watkin Williams Wynn, consists of property in p's Gyffylliog, Denbigh and Llanrhaeadr [-yng-Nghinmeirch] only. Collector: John Williams, 1797-1809.

Lordship of Arwystli

The collection comprises property in p's Penystrywaid, Llandinam (t's Maes-mawr, Trewyddan, Gwerneirin, Carnedd, Hengynwydd, Deddenydd), Carno, Llanwnnog (t's Surnant, Wig and Ystradfaelog, Esgob, Caer-sws), Trefeglwys (t's Bodaeoch, Mastregymer, Dolgwden, Glyntrefnant), Llanidloes (t's Brithdir, Glynhafren Iscoed, Treflyn and Rhydfaes, Cefncroesllwybr, Morfodion, Cilmachallt, Cefn Penarth, Ystradhunod), Llanidloes Town, Llangurig (t's Cefn (yr) hafodau, Llanifyny, Glyngynwydd, Glynhafren Uwchcoed, Glynbrochan); and the Berthllwyd estate in p's [Trefeglwys] (t's Maestregymer, Glyntrefnant), [Llanwnnog] (t's Surnant, Esgob, Uwchlaw'r Coed), Penystrywaid, Llandinam (t's Deddenydd, Maes-mawr) and Llangurig (t. Glyngynwydd), all co. Mont. The collectors are not named.

Lordship of Cynllaith Owain chief rents

The collection comprises property in p's Llansilin (t's Lloran, Moelfre, Estynallan, Priddbwll, Sycharth, Rhiwlas) and [Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog] (t. Llywarch), all in co. Denb. Collectors: John Humphreys, 1719, Peter Lloyd, 1725-1726, Randle Jones, 1736-1738, and Thomas Jones, 1739-1772. For the continuation of this collection post-1772, see Collection IV.

Carno collection

The collection comprises property in p's Trefeglwys, Carno, Llanwnnog, Penegoes, Llanbryn-mair, and Aberbygan [?t. Aberbechan in p. Llanllwchaearn], all co. Mont. R6/2 (1714-1715) includes land tax in Tir y Mynech in p. Llanbryn-mair, and in Carno collections for 1712. R6/9 (1714-1715) includes land tax for Carno and Llanbryn-mair collections for 1713 and 1714.
