Music book

A small volume containing Welsh and English tunes. In 1833 the book belonged to John Williams, Llanfachreth, but the tunes were transcribed by another person, possibly at the end of the eighteenth century.

Colwyn Bay and Carmarthen competitions

A selection by J. Lloyd Williams from collections of folk-songs entered for competition at Colwyn Bay Eisteddfod, 1910, including those of W. O. Jones ('Eos y Gogledd') and T. Soley Thomas. A manuscript music book containing selections from Soley Thomas's collection for the Carmarthen Eisteddfod, 1911, for which he won first prize, is also included.

A 'list of arrangements by JLlW of Welsh melodies printed in the booklets of Undeb Cymanfaoedd Ysgolion', together with many of the listed melodies, is also included. A number of items are in the hand of Mary Davies. The file also contains a few carols and settings for penillion singing.

Folk songs from various sources, most of which, although entitled 'Welsh airs (unpublished)' appeared later in the Journal of the Welsh Folk-Song Society. Covering letters or provenance notes are included and some are in J. Lloyd Williams's hand.
