A manuscript described as 'Llyfr o hen areithiau a Chywyddau' in the hand of Michael Prichard of Llan Llyfni. It contains poetry, largely in the form of 'cywyddau', by Michael Prichard, Sion Phylipp, Sion Tydur, Rhys Cain, Huw Llwyd Cynfel, Robert ab Howel ab Morgan, William Llyn, Dafydd ab Euan ab Owen, y Rhys ab Ednyfed, Owen Griffith, Thomas Lloyd [recte Prys] (Plas Iolyn), Dafydd Manuel, Wmphrey Dafydd ab Ifan ('Clochydd Llann brenn Mair'), Elis Rowland, Gryffydd ap Llywelyn Fychan, Wiliam Cynwal, Edward ap Rhys, and Thomas Llwyd (Penmen), and anonymous poems; 'Hanes y Twrstan, neu araith S. Tudyr', 'Breuddwyd Sion Tudur', and 'Prognosticasiwn Sion Tydur'; and a mediaeval Welsh glossary ('Llymma bart o'r hen Gymraeg; ar iaith arferedig wrthi') extracted from a book of Thomas Price of Plas Jolyn. The volume was compiled during the period 1726-9. There are a few additions in other hands, among them 'englynion' in praise and in memory of Michael Prichard by William Elias, [Griffith Williams] ('Gutyn Peris'), etc. At the end are two incomplete indexes, the one by Michael Prichard and the other by Owen Williams, Waunfawr. The spine is lettered 'Michael Prichard MS'.

An imperfect volume in the hand of Edward Lhuyd containing ['Araith Siôn Tudur']; 'cywyddau' largely by Tomas Prys and D[afydd] ab G[wilym], but with a few by Sion Dafydd Lâs, Wiliam Llun, William Fylip, Sion Filip, Sion Tudur, Sion Morgan (1689), and Owain Gwynedd, and '[Araith] Wgon'. Laid down on the fly-leaf is a note in the hand of E. G. B. Phillimore identifying the scribe.

An imperfect volume containing 'cywyddau', etc. by Thomas Prys, Robt. Lewis, Iolo Goch, Gutto or Glynn, Richard Kynwal, Robt ap Rees Wynn ('o Arianog'), Rowland Vychan, Richard Kynfol, Y Prydydd Hael, Evan Deulwyn, Doctor Sion Kent, Edward Mayelor, D'd ap Gwilim, Tudur Aled, Risiart Gele, Sion Tudur, Simwnt Vychan, Ievan Gethin ap Ie'nn ap Lleision, Evan Lloyd brydydd, Madog Benfras, Howel Gethin, Llowdden, Sion Phillip, Robt. Later additions include a few medical recipes and copious marginal arithmetical calculations. The text, according to a note by J. H. Davies on the fly-leaf, was used by the writer of NLW MS 717, and the manuscript in fact bears an example of his hand. The spine is lettered 'Poetry'.

An imperfect and mutilated manuscript of anonymous 'cerddi' and 'carolau', of which some are dated within the period 1736-40. There is also one English carol dated 1744.

An imperfect manuscript containing a Welsh vocabulary (Merth - ysgrynedig, and a few entries under Ch- ); 'Cronicl y Twysogion' ('Hyn adynnais yn dalfyr alhan o lyfr y Twysogion asgrifen[n]odh Cradog o Lan[n] Garrfan'); 'Hen hen[n]wau bagad o Brif dhinasoedh yr ynys hon, ar hen[n]wau sydh arnynt orig, a phwy ai gwnaeth hwynt'; 'Dwned'; 'Deg rhan gwahan[n]ieth Cristnogion y byd'; etc. The manuscript is in the same hand as Panton MS 68 (NLW MS 2034) pp. 33-48, which are dated 1650. Annotations by Peter Bailey Williams.

An incomplete and badly mutilated manuscript of the early seventeenth century containing 'cywyddau' by Gruffith ap Ieuan, Ifann Deulwyn, Bedo Aerddrain, Llywelyn ap D'd Fychan, Sion Tudur, Lewis Mon, Dafydd ap Gwilim, etc., and anonymous 'englynion'. The poems are written on the dorse of folded late sixteenth century answers to interrogatories in legal actions.

The volume was compiled, with holograph annotations, by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). The spine is lettered 'Dic Aberdaron'.

A volume of Paul Panton [the younger] (1758-1822) of Plasgwyn, Anglesey, comprising six notebooks or commonplace books, of which the first five are labelled 'Miscellaneous' and the sixth 'Cicero', together with a few additional leaves. The contents are largely in the form of extracts from printed sources (e.g. from Edward Gibbon, David Hume, Sir John Hawkins, James Boswell, Thomas Pennant, etc.) and annotated extracts from the works of Cicero. The volume is lettered 'Paul Panton's MSS'.

A 'Carol plygain' (12 pp.) by 'Sion Ebrill'.

A volume containing 'A Compend of Rhetoric in two parts, 1756'. The spine is lettered 'Watsons Rhetoric' [most probably Robert Watson (1730?-1781), historian and rhetorician].

A notebook of Jane Hughes, 1830, containing a sermon by Daniel Rowland, 'gynt gweinidog yr efengil yn Llangeitho, a chaplan Duc o Leinster'; hymns; and an account [?by Jane Hughes] of her conversion to Wesleyan Methodism in 1815, with references to religious meetings at Maentwrog, Corwen, Penrhyn[deudraeth], etc., and to the writer's sister Elin Angel.

A transcript made by R[obert] Glover, Somerset Herald, in 1572 of a text of the 'Libellus de Officio Militari' of Nicholas Upton written by ('script per') Baddesworth in 1458. Blank spaces have been left for the appropriate blazons. The work was published under the title of Nicholai Uptoni de Studio Militari (Londini, 1654). The text is divided into the following four books 'Liber primus de Coloribus', 'Liber Secundus de Regulis et Signis in Armis depictis,' 'Liber tertius de animalibus et auibus in armis portatis ...', and 'Liber Quartus De Veteranis quos modo Heraldos appellamus'. At the beginning of the volume is a full-page blazon of the arms of Austen Steward, 1560 (or, a fesse chequy azure and argent, on an escutcheon of pretence of the last, a lion rampant gules debruised by a bend or), and at the end are seven folios of the biography and genealogy of the family of Steward (Stuard, Stuart, etc.) ('Transcriptum Geneologiae familiae Senescallorum in Anglia') ('...est geneologia Thome Steward et Rich'i filii sui breuiter extract' ex rotulis') compiled by John Moore, Norroy King of Arms, 1572, with later additions begun in 1714, and one page containing a list of English peers ('magnates Anglie') of the time of Elizabeth I and a scale of precedence. On the first page of the volume is an impression of a seal bearing a crest - before a stump of a tree, a sword, point downwards sinister, and the legend 'A.S. Fortiter defensa ob Scotica sceptra'. Each of the upper and lower covers bears four ornamental metal bosses, a blind tooling of the stump-of-tree crest, and additional gilt and blind tooling.

Each volume is lettered, on the spine, 'Ffrwd-fâl MSS'.

An index [by David Evans, Llanrwst] of the first lines of 'cerddi' contained in twelve manuscript anthologies in his possession, together with some additions by J. H. Davies. The lines are listed under their respective authors, and the latter are arranged in alphabetical order of Christian names.

The manuscript also includes memoranda correspondence, 1863-5, between David Evans, William Morris ('Gwilym Tawe'), secretary of Swansea [National] Eisteddfod (1863), [Morris Williams] ('Nicander'), and John Griffiths, rector of Neath, relating to the inability of David Evans to recover a 'Casgliad ... o Draddodiadau Gwirebau a Diarhebion Cymreig' submitted for competition at the Swansea Eisteddfod; and a catechism or play entitled 'Gwyddorydd neu Holwyddoreg Anudonaidd.
