Aber-mad estate,

Original bundle of deeds relating to the Aber-mad estate in p’s Llanbadarn Fawr, Llanilar and Llanychaearn, including a mortgage and further charge by the earl of Lisburne of estates in co. Card., 1842; conveyance of the Aber-mad estate by the said earl to Lewis Pugh of Aberystwyth, esq., for £34,000 (see schedule annexed for extent and map of estate), 1852, mortgage of the said estates and assignments of the same etc., including an agreement by Lewis Pugh Pugh to convey the equity of redemption in the estate to Sir Griffith Humphrey Pugh Evans of Lovesgrove, one of the mortgagees, 1893. Original bundle of deeds and papers relating mainly to mortgages to Lewis Pugh of Aberystwyth of a capital m. called Penywch and m’s and cottages called Bwlch huble, Llyest y Ceiliog, Llyest y Nant Rhys, Nant yr Onnen and Ty yn y Wern in p’s Llanbadarn Fawr and Llanfihangel-y-Creuddyn, to m’s called Blaenpaith and Tavarn y Crib in the same p’s, Graigwen in p. Llanilar, and leasehold premises in North Parade and Portland Place, Aberystwyth, including pre and post-nuptial settlements of James Parry of Penywch, gent., and Jane Pugh of Pantyswllt in p. Llandysiliogogo, 1769, 1784, and a copy of the London Gazette, 5 June 1868, announcing the grant of a licence to Lewis Pugh Evans of Aber-mad and Lincolns Inn to take the name of Pugh instead of Evans in compliance with the will of his maternal uncle, Lewis Pugh.

Lease and release of a capital messuage called Aberpully, p. Llanfihangel-y-Creuddyn, from William Jones late of the same, gent., to John Jones of Nanteos, esq., and to seventeen named landowners in the co's Card., Carm., Rad., Mer., Mont., Caern, Pemb., Denb., Glam. and Flint., redeemable upon payment of 5s. Original bundle labelled 'A, No. 8, Aber Pulley'.

Aberynant, p. Llanidloes, co. Mont.,

Original bundle of deeds, abstracts of title etc, 1836-1907, relating to a capital messuage called Aberynant, fields called Wharf field and Caepengeulan and three cottages called Pengeulan Cottages, all t. Cilmachallt, bor. and p. Llanidloes, co. Mont., together with correspondence relating to missing title deeds, 1963. The premises were purchased by John Humphreys Davies of Aberystwyth, registrar of UCW, in 1907.

Aberystwyth grocer's day book,

Day book, 7 June 1884-8 Oct. 1888, with a few bill book accounts. The inside front cover is inscribed 'Anne Jane Ellis, 2 North Gate St, Aberystwyth, June 7th 1884'. The goods include bacon, biscuits (including arrowroot and Osborne), black lead, butter, candles (including bedroom candles, parlour candles and night lights), cheese, coffee, currents, flour (including cornflour), jam (including apricot, raspberry and redcurrent), matches, oil, soap (including dry and powder), scotch oatmeal, soda, starch, sugar (including brown and lump), sultanas, tea and vinegar.

Aberystwyth harbour works,

Papers relating to a proposed subscription to liquidate a loan of £2000 on account of Aberystwyth harbour works, mainly comprising draft letters from Matthew Davies Williams, Cwmcynfelyn, to the Duke of Newcastle. Includes a draft letter, including ‘I doubt not you have heard of the event of the coroners inquest held yesterday at Wallog. I feel exceedingly anxious to discover the guilty party’, 1838.

Aberystwyth Mutual Freight & Outfit Insurance Co. Ltd,

Account book of the Aberystwyth Mutual Freight & Outfit Insurance Co. Ltd, including the ship's name, the name, profession and residence of the ship's husband, the amount insured, and the cost of the insurance. Spine labelled 'Register', and the front cover labelled 'Aberystwith Mutual Freight & Outfit Insurance Company, Limited'. Eighty two tickets were issued in 1879, [96] in 1880, 81 in 1881, and 45 in 1882. A number of vessels are noted as having been 'lost'. In the front of the volume are printed calls on the insured ships for Oct. 1880, and the first and second calls for 1881.
