North Wales Regional Committee (A-DEB-41),

The North Wales Regional Committee covered Alyn, Deeside, Caernarfon, Vale of Clwyd, Clwyd West, Clwyd Soulth, Conwy, Delyn, Wrexham and Ynys Mon. The role of the regional committee was to advise the Assembly on matters affecting the region; the effect of Assembly policies in the region; and the work of public bodies in the region.

The Terms of Reference of the Committee were to discuss terms and conditions for the investigation under the Investigations Act 2005 and to report its conclusions to the National Assembly by 7 December 2005.

Committee on Standing Orders (A-DEB-49)

Schedule 11 of the Government of Wales Bill provided for the National Assembly to produce proposals for standing orders in relation to the proceedings of the Assembly following the 2007 election. Once agreed by the Assembly, these proposals were sent to the Secretary of State for Wales, who formally made the new standing orders. The National Assembly therefore established an advisory committee, under Standing Order 8.1, to recommend standing orders for the newly constituted Assembly. The committee's terms of reference were to: make every effort to recommend new standing orders, which are capable of securing a two thirds majority approval by plenary and prepare a report, which shall set out proposed new standing orders for consideration by plenary. The Committee was to report on or before 31 January 2007 and ceased to exist on the 1 March 2007.

Equal Opportunities Committee (A-DEB-13),

The purpose of the Equality of Opportunity Committee was to ensure that the Assembly had effective arrangements to promote the principle of equality of opportunity for all people in the exercise of its functions and the conduct of its business. The Equal Opportunities Commission, the Commission for Racial Equality, the Disability Rights Commission, Stonewall Cymru and the Welsh Language Board had standing invitations to attend meetings of the Committee as advisers.

European and External Affairs Committee (A-DEB-14),

The main functions of the Committee were to keep under review the Assembly’s relations with the regions, other nations and institutions of the European Union, and its methods for informing and advising those institutions of the needs of Wales; the Assembly’s liaison arrangements with UKREP, and with United Kingdom government departments on European issues; the Assembly’s methods and procedures for the consideration of documents, issues and questions emanating from European institutions, having particular regard to the need for liaison with Members of Parliament responsible for scrutiny of European matters of particular relevance to Wales; the Assembly's relations with regions and nations external to the European Union and the Assembly's involvement in European and international organisations.
