A collection of poetry, in Welsh, 19 cent., copied, very inaccurately, by John Rowlands for Sir Thomas Phillipps. The original of this manuscript is Cardiff MS II, vol. ii, though pp. 23-35 of the Cardiff MS are omitted in this volume.

Llandaff diocese book

A volume, c. 1769, containing a list of the dignitaries and clergy of the diocese of Llandaff, the livings and dates of institutions, and the patrons. Also included are indices to the livings and incumbents, and rentals of the revenues of the see.

William Style: Heraldry and pedigrees (Vol. 1)

A volume, c. 1656-c. 1661, containing a catalogue of the Knights of the Bath made by Henry VIII in 1509, also of the Knights Bannerets and other nobility and gentry together with their coats of arms, etc. Also included in the volume are a table of all surnames mentioned with their heraldic insignia; an account of the arms in the Parlor Window at Newnham Padox in Warwickshire and at Coughton and Chesterton; an account of Kenilworth, Tamworth, Warwick and Maxstoke Castles; epitaphs from the church of Stratford, including those to Susanna Hall and Shakespeare; tomb inscriptions from various locations; a treatise on the right of bearing arms; and a list of gentry of Nottingham, with their coats of arms. William Huddesford: Life of Edward Lhuyd

A volume containing the memoirs of the life of Edward Lhuyd, drawn up by William Huddesford before 1760 and printed, 1777, in British Remains by the Reverend N. Owen. A few leaves containing extracts from Ashmolean MS g. 38 have been inserted into the volume.

Assize rents of Tindaethwy

A rent roll of assize rents, dated 22 October 1649, relating to the commote of Tindaethwy, Anglesey. Names of landowners, villes and gwelïau, and names of tenants and their holdings are given.

Cyfrinach Beirdd Ynys Prydain

A volume containing a transcript, 1801, of Cyfrinach Beirdd Ynys Prydain made by Hugh Maurice at Greenwich. It answers to pp. 1-171 of the printed text in the 1829 edition, but there are many variants in the orthography.

Owen Davies: Index to Welsh records

A volume containing an index to Welsh records compiled, 1737, by Owen Davies, covering part of the reigns of Henry VII and Edward VI. There is nothing to indicate where these records were located and in most cases the details given are meagre.

The third of four volumes, it contains the pedigrees of the bishops of Chichester, St David's, Ely, Exeter, Gloucester, Hereford and Llandaff.

Egerton Grenville Bagot Phillimore: Achau Cymreig

A volume containing a copy of Cardiff MS 59 made by Egerton Grenville Bagot Phillimore (1856-1937), antiquary, at various dates between 1886 and 1891. The copy ends on p. 75 of the original manuscript and the rest of the original manuscript was copied into another volume, now NLW MS 142B. Though the original manuscript is usually attributed to Thomas Jones (Twm Sion Cati) he was in fact dead in 1611, when the manuscript was written; proof of this is to be seen in an Exchequer Deposition 8 Jas I, Easter 13, where Jones's widow is described as 'Dame Johan Devereux nowe wife of Sir George Devereux, knt., late wife of Thomas Jones, gent.', the date of this entry being April 12 1610. Voluminous notes by Phillimore have been added to the copied manuscript. With NLW MS 142B.

Edward Davies: Letters and papers

A volume containing a collection of papers and letters of the Reverend Edward Davies of Olveston relating to the ancient language, topography and history of Britain, and more particularly of North Britain, including a number of letters, November 1797-March 1802, from Edward Davies to George Chalmers and William Owen Pughe and also a lengthy treatise comparing topographical names in Scotland and Wales (pp. 51-213). A printed sheet (p. 245) - drawn up by George Hardings, a Welsh judge and friend of Edward Davies - has been inserted giving particulars of Edward Davies's career and literary accomplishments, with the object of inducing subscriptions for his books. A copy of a book containing Edward Davies's letters to George Hardinge, printed by Hardinge and circulated privately, has been bound with NLW MS 145C but wants the 14th and 15th letters (pp. 247-340). An advertisement regarding books intended to be published by Davies has been inserted at p. 341.

The second of three volumes, 1810, containing a voluminous but unpublished work by Sir Samuel Rush Meyrick, 1783-1848, chronicling the history of the ancient Britons. Volume II also contains a number of loose papers and extracts.
