A volume containing a 19th century copy of a genealogical history of nobility and gentry in Wales by Hugh Thomas (1673-1720), including information gleaned from records, inscriptions, collections, etc.

The second of two volumes, containing a 19th century copy of an early 18th century manuscript by Edward Lloyd of Newtown, near Oswestry, barrister-at-law, and William Mytton of Halston, relating to the antiquities of Shropshire. An index to the places referred to is also included.

A volume, c. 1700, containing an English-Welsh dictionary in the hand of Edward Lhuyd (1660-1709). The plan adopted was to write the English words in two columns, leaving a space after each word for the insertion of the Welsh equivalent; the manuscript begins with 'Badge' and ends with 'Calander' [sic], but the Welsh equivalents have only been given in comparatively few cases.

A volume containing a collection, late 17 cent., of arms of Welshmen and of Englishmen connected with Wales by Francis Bassano. Also included are copies of monumental inscriptions in the parish church of Sawley, Derbyshire (p. 73) and in Clifton Church (p. 79).

A volume containing an original manuscript poem entitled Brwydr Maes Bosworth which was entered at Llangollen Eisteddfod, 1858 and which is in the hand of Ebenezer Thomas (Eben Fardd) (1802-1863).

An early 18 cent. copy of the Book of Merlin from the work of Nennius (9 cent.). The manuscript has been collated (see note (p. 9), under the date 1729).

A volume containing a collection of songs, in Welsh, some of which were written by John Thomas (Hoilienydd) and which were sent by him to William Thomas of Troedyrhiw, near Llandovery, in 1847.

The court roll of the manor of Bodidris, Flintshire, giving information which begins during the reign of Henry VIII and ends during the reign of James I. The manuscript is in a very dilapidated condition.

A volume, [early 17 cent.], containing a concordance of the Welsh Bible in the hand of Robert Vaughan of Hengwrt. This manuscript was discovered by the Rev. Evan Evans (Ieuan Brydydd Hir, 1731-1788) at Bala in 1765 (see Gweithiau Ieuan Brydydd Hir, p. 199); he intended to print the manuscript at Carmarthen (ibid, p. 205). As a concordance, it is vastly inferior to that of Abel Morgan which was printed at Philadelphia in 1730, and also to that of Peter Williams, published at Carmarthen in 1773.

A volume, 19 cent., containing two sermons in different hands. The last page of the second sermon has been written over a letter addressed by D. Davies to the Reverend J. M. Colson of Swanage (see also NLW MS 261C).

A volume, in very poor condition, containing poetry apparently written by Foulk Wynn of Nantglyn, [c. 1684].

A bundle of papers which include sermons of various dates from 1708 onwards, in eight separate books; a list of Calvinistic Methodist preachers with texts of sermons delivered by them, 1846; diaries, 1835-1836, kept by John Thomas, Penddol, Llanllwni; and an imperfect copy of Traethawd ynghylch Gweithredoedd Da ac Elusenau, 1693.

A copy, 1910, of the original lease of the Calvinistic Methodist chapel at Llanddeusant, Carmarthenshire, dated 22 December 1792.

A book (c. 1791-c. 1800) in the hand of John Williams, who was a student at Lady Huntingdon's College at Trevecca in 1791. The writer apparently sold copies of Welsh books and refers to purchasers by name (eg p. 3); also included is a poetic work (pp. 18-19) by William Williams (Pantycelyn) (1717-1791) and numerous medical recipes.

A book of devotions, c. 1700, containing scriptural texts, prayers and notes, etc. apparently in the hand of William Beveridge, Bishop of St Asaph.

A volume containing Cefncoch MS B, which was printed in full by the Reverend John Fisher and published together with Cefncoch MS A (see NLW MS 279D) (Liverpool, 1899); a full description of Cefncoch MS B appears in the preface to Fisher's combined volume (pp. xiii-xv), which book originally contained copies of Rhann o Psalmae Dafydd by Edward Kyffin (London, 1603) and Psalmae y Brenhinol Brophwyd Dafydh by Captain William Middleton (London, 1603). Cefncoch MS A has now been removed from Fisher's volume and bound separately (see NLW MS 279D).

A volume containing Cefncoch MS A, which was printed together with Cefncoch MS B in the Reverend John Fisher's volume (Liverpool, 1899), in which a full description of Cefncoch MS A is given (pp. ix-x) (see the description section in NLW MS 278B).

A bundle of loose papers, 16 & 19 cents, largely containing transcripts and copies of manuscripts; also including a bond, dated April 24 1587, for the payment of #20. A note, dated October 21 1893, by Egerton Grenville Bagot Phillimore, the former owner of the manuscript, states that '"The Hymns of St. Curic", of which a modernised transcript was printed in "Cambro-British Saints" (p. 609) are not here. They were given by Mr. H. W. Lloyd to the late Chevalier Lloyd of Clochfaen, who was unable when applied to by me to trace them.'

A series of thirty-seven small notebooks of sermons, 17 & 18 cents, preached mostly in Brecknockshire parishes; the material sheds some light upon the prevalence of the Welsh language in the county at that time.
