A copy of Rhys Jones, Gorchestion Beirdd Cymru ... (1773), with manuscript notes by Edward Charles. Bound with the volume is a manuscript collection of verse in Welsh and English in several hands of the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, the greater part appearing to have been written by Thomas Humphreys in London. The poems include Cerdd Rowland o'r Pandy i'w gariad, Cywydd marwnad Rhisiart Morys ..., Englynion i'r Eos ... (Caerwys Eisteddfod), and cerddi, cywyddau and englynion by Robert Williams, Thomas Humphreys, Sion ap Rhisiart, Sion Owen o Egryn, Richard Williams, Ed[ward] Puw, Llywelyn Ddu, Mathew Owen, Pedr Gwilym, Iorwerth ap Ioan, Robert Evans, Robyn Ddu, Hugh Llwyd Cynfel, R. O. Ragad, Sion Gwilym, Rhys Jones o'r Blaenau, Rissiart Jones Trefdraeth ym Mon, Simwnt Fychan, Dafydd Ellis, y Parchedig Sion Morgan, Jonnathan Huws, Iorwerth Gwilym o Forganwg, Elis Cadwa[ladr] and Evan Evans.

Two volumes, 17 cent., bound together, the former consisting of notes of court cases and appearing to have been written 1671-1677, the second a lawyer's commonplace book containing precedents of deeds and pleadings, notes relating to court judges, charges of judges, etc.

Welsh and Breton grammars, mid 19 cent., in the hand of William Probert, in a volume divided into two sections. The Introduction is dated Walmsley, near Bolton, June 11, 1857. In the first section, Probert's own grammar is divided into five parts: 1) Letters 2) Parts of Speech 3) Derivation of Words 4) Syntax 5) Laws of Welsh Poetry. Probert has also added chapters on Pennillion and Pennillion Singing and on the Bardic Alphabet. The second section of the volume consists of a translation by Probert, completed September 2, 1865, of the Celto-Breton Grammar of Le Gonidec, first published in 1807.

A grammar, in two sections, the first being "a Hebrew and English Grammar without points, to which is added a short outline of the Chaldee Dialect adapted to the Hebrew Bible by William Probert", completed at Alnwick, August, 1818, and the second being "a short Welsh Grammar", also by William Probert.

A volume, probably written by Richard Thomas, Jesus College, containing British chronologies (pp. 1-59, 111-119), Welsh triads (pp. 71-111) and an account of Gruffydd ap Cynan (pp. 122-142).

A collection, 19 cent., by Sir Thomas Phillipps, of cuttings from various magazines and newspapers relative to Druidical remains, with written notes by Sir Thomas.

A sermon, in Welsh, on Romans 15.4, apparently written by Dr Peter Williams (1756-1837), who published several volumes of sermons. The sermon was preached at Llanfihangel-Aberbythich on December 4th 1814 and at various other places up to December 10th 1869.

Two interludes, in Welsh, 18 cent., the first (incomplete) relating to Welsh chronicle from the time of Brutus to the time of George III in the hand of David Jones of Trefriw, the second (beginning imperfect) relating to the story of Cain and Abel. Thomas Edwards (Twm o'r Nant (1739-1810) is known to have written an interlude on the latter subject.

A commonplace book, written apparently at various times between 1781 and 1802, of the Reverend John Williams, A.B. (1760-1826), sometime scholar of Jesus College, Oxford, afterwards Master of the Llanrwst School. Pp. 84-164 are written from the back to the front of the volume. It contains extracts from Columella (pp. 1-45), a note on the Welsh prayer book of 1710 (pp. 61-70), an account of manuscripts in Wales written, apparently, by Lewis Morris c. 1745 (pp. 71-5), a copy of a letter from Goronwy Owen to William Elias, November 30 1751 (pp. 76-81), a poem on Isaac Newton, in English, by R. Glover, 1727 (written from reverse of book) (pp. 164-122) and a copy of James Thomson's poem Winter, 1726 (also written from reverse of book) (pp. 119-84).

A volume, ([1812] x [c. 1817]), mostly in the hand of the Reverend T. Jones, Moelfre, containing sermons (pp. 20-104), in Welsh and English, perhaps preached at Moelfre (p. 60) and notes of baptisms at Abergele and St. George in December 1817 (p. 111). The beginning of the volume (pp. 1-19) has been used, 1812, by W. Jones as a copying-book.

A volume containing religious songs and carols, in Welsh, of the 17th and 18th centuries. The authors were mostly natives of the Teifi Valley in Cardiganshire, where the book was written c. 1720; however, pp. 226-34 and 245-344 are in later hands. Many of the compositions were written by Evan Griffith of Twrgwyn, Cardiganshire. Dates of songs are incorporated in the last lines, but the author's meaning is not always certain and the dates in the latter portion cannot be relied upon. In some cases, the author's name has been obtained from Cwrtmawr MS 45.

Commonplace book, early 19 cent., in English and Welsh, in the hand of Edward Jones (Bardd y Brenin, 1752-1824), containing a large number of disconnected notes on Welsh authors, place-names and books, etc.

A volume containing an inaccurate copy, early 19 cent., in the hand of Edward Jones (Bardd y Brenin) (1752-1824), of the latter end of the statute of Gruffudd ap Cynan. A list of Welsh poets with dates is also included (p. 40). The writer notes that "this curious fragment of the Laws of the Bards was faithfully copied from an ancient parchment roll, which is in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford".

A journal, 1812, by Josh. Hawker (Clarencieux King of Arms) and Elizabeth, his wife, of a tour undertaken through North Wales.

A journal, 1826, written by Thomas John Masleni, of a tour on foot from Carmarthen to Mold. The writer has embellished his work with fourteen rough sketches which have subsequently been coloured.

The volume contains an itinerary of various journeys made by Paul Panton of Plasgwyn, Anglesey, between 1784 and 1795. Details of the distance travelled each day are given and many interesting notes with references to places visited have been added.

A miscellaneous collection, in Welsh and English, [early 18 cent.]-[mid 18 cent.], of notes and papers mostly in the hand of Lewis Morris (1701-1765) and probably collected and bound together by him.
