Music terms

A bundle of paper slips forming an index of Welsh terms, often archaic, relating to music, including references to sources in manuscripts. A card index of music terms in English with Welsh translations, is also included.

'Hanes Cerddorion a Cherddoriaeth Deheudir Cymru o 1700 hyd 1928'

Adjudication notes and extracts from essays entitled 'Hanes Cerddorion a Cherddoriaeth Deheudir Cymru o 1700 hyd 1928', entered for competition at Llanelli Eisteddfod, 1930, and again at Aberafan/Port Talbot Eisteddfod, 1932; together with notes and extracts from another essay, entitled 'Hanes Cerddoriaeth Gogledd Cymru o'r Flwyddyn 1700 hyd ddiwedd 1928', entered at Caernarfon Eisteddfod, 1931. The adjudications were published in Y Cerddor, October 1930, November 1931 and January 1933.

Music in education

Reports relating to music education in Caernarfonshire, minutes of the Sub-Committee of the county council; feedback from headmasters to a memorandum on music for schools; documents relating to music in schools throughout Wales in general; and related correspondence. J. Lloyd Williams is the author of a number of these reports and the file also includes a critical report by him on the role of Welsh music in the music departments of the University of Wales.
