However, a nephew of Robert Hughes attempted to claim title under the terms of the will, and lengthy legal disputes ensued]. The documents comprise two bonds by William John ap Richard to lease Cae'r berllan, 1695 and 1698, a bond to release right and title back to him, 1703, and a later deed by John Griffith (3) of Garn, of part of Cae'r berllan for the purpose of a new turnpike road leading from Corwen to Llanrwst, in exchange for part of the old road lying near Caer Melwr Bridge, 1781.
