Register of manuscript articles

The volume comprises details of manuscript articles found or examined. Entered in tabular form, information is given on the date found or examined; registration number given; where the manuscript was found and what condition it was in; the name of the author; the number of pages, and any missing pages; date and size; details of publication; whether hanwritten or typescript, and what language; a classification code; and the name and address of the recipient if the manuscript was disposed of.

Personal correspondence

Includes letters relating to the financial support provided for the education of two children belonging to the Newman family of Kingston-on-Thames through the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls and the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys

Family correspondence

Includes correspondence relating to the pension of J. Charles Jones' mother and to the gravestone inscription of his father. There is also a copy of the Rev. R. Charles Jones' obituary (in Welsh) from Y Goleuad, 11 March 1925, and two postcard photographs of Mrs Margaret Jones

Public activities

This group reflects the varied activities of the Cymmrodorion: erecting memorials for eminent Welsh figures; publishing scholarly works of Welsh interest; arranging the annual dinner and other functions; newspaper reports of Cymmrodorion meetings and other events; notes of Cymmrodorion lectures and addresses; and addresses conneceted with special occasions.

The Morris Memorial

Letters offering subscriptions towards the building of a memorial at Penrhosllugwy to Lewis Morris and his brothers Richard and William Morris, who, in 1751, were mainly instrumental in founding the Society of Cymmrodorion

Bishop William Morgan commemoration service

The file comprises correspondence, related papers and newspaper cuttings concerning Bishop William Morgan's commemoration service held at the church of St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, London, 9 December 1954, organised by J. L. C. Cecil-Williams on the 350th anniversary of Bishop Morgan's death in 1604.

Circulars and appeals

The file comprises circular letters and appeals on behalf of various memorial and testimonial fund committees to commemorate Llywelyn ein Llyw Olaf, King Edward VII (Prince of Wales), Ceiriog, Mr Owen Owen, Pedrog, Hedd Wyn, Sir John Rhys, Eifionydd, and Lord Davies of Llandinam; and letters sent to the Cymmrodorion Secretary regarding a memorial to the late Joseph Edwards.

The Morris Memorial Tablet

The file comprises correspondence relating to the work of replacing a slate tablet at the entrance to the field in Penrhosllugwy where the Morris Memorial stood, and the practical arrangements with the Tablet unveiling ceremony, 11 June 1945. There are also letetrs concerning the proposed Morysiaid library/Museum at Holyhead, and other issues related to the Morris brothers.

Hwfa Mon Memorial

Letters sent to Sir E. Vincent Evans relating to the Hwfa Mon Memorial Fund for the purpose of erecting a memorial to the late Rev. Archdruid Hwfa Mon (Rowland Williams) in the cemetery at Rhyl where he was buried. There is also a copy of the Memorial Committee's appeal and circular letter.
