Part of Kemeys-Tynte Estate Papers,
Probate Of Will of Sir Charles Kemeys of Kevenmably, co. Glam., bart (will dated 5 June 1702). Revokes the uses contained in his marriage settlement in favour of his brother George and appoints all his lands in England and Wales to his daughter Jane, if his son Charles should die without heirs (further uses specified). Appoints man. Park Lettice in p's Llanover, Llangiew, Llanllowell and Uske, co. Mon., lately purchased from Baron Schwerin, to the same uses. Desires to be buried with his ancestors at the parish church of Michaelstone Vedow, co. Mon., where he desires that a vault may be made of the whole breadth and length of the aisle but not to meddle or alter the arched vault wherein one of his ancestors lies and desires, that whereas there is now a small door to the said aisle fronting westwards, this should be pulled down and a folding door made exactly in the middle of the same west front which he supposes would be the most convenient place to make the stairs to go to the vault, and if he dies before the vault be made then he desires to be buried somewhere in the said aisle or church either in lead or solid wood till such time as the vault be ready. Desires to be buried privately and decently and at night and that a dole be given to the poor on such occasion, namely £5 to the poor of p. Michaelstone Vedw, £5 to the poor of p. Lisvane, £5 to the poor of p. St Mellons and £2 to the poor of Lanishen. Bequeathes to his eight bearers 20s. each to buy rings, gloves, scarfs and hatbands worn on such occasions. Whereas his late wife bequeathed £50 to the poor of p's Michaelstone Vedow and Lanedern he bequeaths a similar sum for the same purpose. Bequeathes a wrought bed which is to be considered a family heirloom to his son Charles.
