Poetry,

A manuscript written c. 1648 (see p. 658) containing poetry, the poets cited including Taliesin, Iolo Goch, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Wiliam Cynwal and Siôn and Rhisiart Phylip. An index, with the poets' names arranged alphabetically, has been added at pp. 659-672 by Richard Morris for William Jones in London, 1746.
Many lines and half lines are wanting throughout the text owing probably to the imperfection or illegibility of the originals.

Poetry,

A manuscript containing an 'Important Corpus of Welsh Poetry' compiled by the Reverend Samuel Williams and Iaco ab Dewi [James Davies], with the first lines of the poems given alphabetically in an index. The volume also contains 'Histori Pren y Fuchedd', and a (non-autograph) letter from Siôn Mawddwy to Meurig Dafydd. Added at the end of the volume is a fifty-page index to the authors of the poems compiled by Richard Morris in 1747. Ff. 196-243 (containing poems numbered 632-737) are in the autograph of Iaco ab Dewi, while the remainder of the volume, excluding the end index, is in the hand of Samuel Williams. The poets cited include Taliesin, Iolo Goch, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Siôn Mawddwy, Gruffudd Hiraethog, Tudur Aled and Siôn Phylip.

A manuscript containing poetry, prophecies, 'histories', etc. and including 'Kynghorev Kattwn ddoeth ar bardd glas or gadeir' (pp. 27-29). The poets cited include Taliesin, Iolo Goch, Siôn Cent and Lewys Morganwg.
The text beginning at p. 39 is imperfect and the end is wanting from the texts beginning at pp. 42, 80, 116. Four leaves, more or less fragmentary, by a later hand, have been bound between pp. 82 and 83, the end wanting from the text on the last leaf of this section. At p. 112b, c is a misplaced leaf containing English poetry.

A manuscript in the hands of the Reverend Samuel Williams, Moses Williams, Iaco ab Dewi and others, containing one hundred and sixty-eight numbered items, mainly poetry, including about two hundred and thirty-five triads (item 13). The poets cited include Taliesin, Bleddyn Fardd, Iolo Goch, Dafydd ap Gwilym, Siôn Cent and Siôn Phylip. Item 165 contains a genealogy of Welsh saints. Item 166 is a copy of cols 1165-1169 of the Red Book of Hergest. Item 167, which contains englynion, is in the hand of Edward Lhuyd, and was 'sent through the post to W. Baxter in Totnham Highcross near London'. Item 168 is a piece entitled 'A true Character ... of the Gentry within the Counties of Carmarthen, Pembroke and Cardigan during the Commonwealth'.

A manuscript written c. 1727 (see p. 216) containing poetry of Dafydd ap Gwilym, Edmwnd Prys, Guto'r Glyn, Siôn Phylip and others; and articles of agreement between Richard Mytton, Esq. and his tenants in the lordship of Mawddwy, drawn up at Shrewsbury on the 11th of September 1597 in the presence of T. Owen and W. Leighton, chief justice of North Wales.

Pp. 27-128 , 137-278 were written c. 1623 (see p. 176); pp. 283-314a, 315-316, 319-322 somewhat later; and pp. 128b-133, 279-282, 314b-314c, 317-318, 323-366, as well as those pages at the beginning of the manuscript, written c. 1692 (see p. 364). On p. i is a table of contents by Lewis Morris.

A manuscript containing poetry of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries and including the works of Gruffydd Gryg, Guto'r Glyn, Tudur Aled, Siôn Phylip and others, some of the cited works being incomplete.
The manuscript is written in two hands: pp. 1-164 were written c. 1630, while pp. 169-258 were written towards the end of the sixteenth century. On p. 1 there is a table of contents in the hand of Lewis Morris.

A manuscript containing mainly (pp. 7-181) pieces by and in the autograph of William Salesbury of Bachymbyd, in which the author evidently deliberately imitated the style and manner of Rhys Prichard ('Yr Hen Ficer'; 1579?-1644), some of which William Salesbury also copied (see also Llanstephan MS 37). The volume also includes poetry of Siôn Tudur, Gruffydd ab yr Ynad Coch and others.

Welsh Laws, &c.,

A manuscript containing the Welsh Laws, being a transcript of British Museum MS Harleian Titus D. II. Three folios at the beginning and two at the end contain poetry in Welsh and Latin, etc. There are also some items of a corn account.
The general style of the handwriting, which is not all in the same hand, is suggestive of the manuscripts of Dr John Davies, Mallwyd, which were copied partly by him and partly on his behalf.
