Eight letters, 1858 [?1859]-74, from Tho[ma]s Stephens, Merthyr Tydfil, seven of which are addressed to D. Silvan Evans and one to W. W. E. Wynne, Peniarth (copy). Accompanying one of the letters to D. Silvan Evans are transcripts of four letters, 1846-9, from the Reverend Walter Davies ('Gwallter Mechain'), writing from Penmaen Dovey n[ea]r Machynlleth and Llanrhaiadr, Oswestry, to Thomas Stephens ('Casnodyn'). Subjects touched upon include D. Silvan Evans's orthography [i.e. Llythyraeth yr iaith Gymraeg], the 'Madogwys', the Llangollen essay, the (new) bishop of Bangor, the Hengwrt manuscripts and articles for Archaeologia Cambrensis.

Casgledig gan John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd')', being material similar to, but not identical with, that contained in Gleanings from God's Acre (Pwllheli, 1903). There are one or two insets in the autograph of W. W. E. Wynne, Peniarth and some loose papers in various hands, including an outline of proposals for redressing the inadequacy of Parliamentary representation (late 18th cent.).

Fifteen letters to D. Silvan Evans, one, 1885, from (?) M. B. Wynn, Rothley, Loughborough (the term 'gafaelgi') and fourteen, 1871-9 and undated, from W[illia]m W. E. Wynne, Peniarth (Archaeologia Cambrensis, replying to queries and requesting assistance himself, Sir Watkin's uneasiness about [Gruffydd] Roberts's grammar and his wish to have it returned (from Paris), sympathy, an invitation to the addressee to Peniarth).

A manuscript exercise-book labelled 'John Owen, Plas Du' containing Welsh translations, some by T. Evan Jacob, of epigrams by John Owen [1564?-1628?] in the autograph of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), with some notes on the epigrams and on John Owen, etc. Loose inside are copies of a press notice from Y Drych concerning the volume Enwau Lleoedd Sir Gaernarfon (see Cwrtmawr MS 564).

Four volumes of transcripts by J. H. Davies, E. A. Lewis, T. Vaughan Roberts, and T. Hamer Jones and typescript copies, with editorial emendations and additions, of the letters of the family of Morris of Llanfihangel Tre'r Beirdd, Anglesey ('Morrisiaid Môn'), which were published in J. H. Davies (ed.): The Letters of Lewis, Richard William, and John Morris, of Anglesey ... Vols. I-II (Aberystwyth, 1907-09). The collection contains some portions of letters (generally in the form of tabulated accounts) and other items omitted from the printed edition (e.g. an inventory of the estate of Lewis Morris, 1765; an 'Index of British Shells and Fossils ...'; a fragment of a dictionary of personal and place names; etc.).

A small scrap book [of Morris Davies, Bangor] containing cuttings of English poetry by David Williams Breeze, Portmadoc, 1844, and others; articles entitled 'Welsh Literature' (containing 'A biographical memoir of Dr John Davies of Mallwyd') and 'Hen Emynwyr' (Dafydd William, Llandeilo Fach, and Thomas Williams, Bethesda'r Fro), book reviews, etc. Sources of some of the cuttings are noted as follows: Bangor Chronicle [?North Wales Chronicle], Carnarvon Herald [Carnarvon and Denbigh Herald], Herald Cymraeg, Y Goleuad, Baner Cymru and Christian World. The volume was originally used by Jane Davies, Upper Bangor to record English poetry, 1832-5, and lists of mottoes of titled and landed families. The spine is lettered 'Original Poetry'.

A manuscript largely in the hand of Margaret Davies, Coetgae-du, Trawsfynydd, being a collection of 'cywyddau', a few 'awdlau', several 'englynion', and a few 'cerddi' and other poems in free metres. The collection was compiled probably during the period 1760-62, and the poets represented in the volume are Rice Jones ('or blaene'), Hugh Evans, Abram Evan, Thos. Many of the poems, especially of the 'englynion', are anonymous. The volume also includes a transcript based on 'Authorum Britannicorum nomina & quando floruerint' from John Davies: Antiquae Linguae Britannicae ... Dictionarium Duplex ... (Londini, 1632), and extensive elaborate calligraphic exercises partly in the form of transcripts of documents associated with the name of Griffith Vaughan of Pool [Montgomeryshire], 1647 and undated. Many of the pages containing calligraphic exercises, as in the case of some of the manuscripts of John Jones, ?Gellifydy, are damaged on account of the corrosive nature of the ink used by the scribe.

A volume in the hand of D. Silvan Evans described on the title-page as 'Lewis Morris's Additions to Dr Davies's Welsh-Latin Dictionary (from autographs) 1879. (The original Copy, once belonging to Lewis Morris, and annotated on by him, is now (1879) in the possession of the Rev. Thomas James, LLD, ['Llallawg'], Vicar of Netherthong, near Huddersfield)'. The scribe has added the following observations: 'The additions, it will be seen, are few, and very unimportant ..', and at the end has recorded the following entry: 'Returned the Copy of Dr Davies's Dictionary lent me by Llallawg, for transcribing the preceding notes, July 30, 1879'.

A manuscript index to J. H. Davies (ed.), The Letters of Lewis, Richard, William and John Morris of Anglesey (Morrisiaid Môn) (Aberystwyth, 1907-9) compiled for J. H. Davies by T. Vaughan Roberts, London and completed in 1911. The general index (420 pp.) is followed by lists of 'Words and phrases characteristic of the Morrises or illustrating forms commonly used by them' and 'Books, Pamphlets, Manuscripts & Poems referred to', references to 'Trades & Professions', and a number of corrections. Other items ('Removed from the manuscript before it was sent to Mr Jenkin James, January 7, 1931') consist of a letter, 1911, from the compiler, T. Vaughan Roberts to J. H. Davies, and a letter, 1902, from John Ballinger, Cardiff to J. H. Davies enclosing notes and items of verse (mainly by Lewis Morris) copied by J. Ifano Jones from 'an imperfect copy of Dr John Davies's Dictionary, 1632, once the property of Lewis Morris' and from copies of [Huw Jones], Diddanwch Teuluaidd (Llundain, 1763) which belonged to John William Prichard, Plas-y-brain and Nicholas Bennett respectively.

A composite manuscript in the hand of David Richards (1725-82), curate of Llanegwad, Carmarthenshire containing 'cywyddau', etc. by Lewys Glyn Cothi, Raff ap Robert, Lewys Daron, Lewys Menai, W[ilia]m Llyn, Ie[a]'n ap Madog, and Dafydd ap Gwilym, and anonymous poems; 'englynion' by D[afyd]d ap Edmwnt, [Richard Davies] ('Escob Dewi') and H[uw] Lewis; extracts from 'cywyddau' by Ieuan Tew Brydydd, I[euan] Deulwyn, R[h]is[iart] Philyp, Sion Tudur, H[uw] Llwyd [Cynfal], and T[homas] Prys; extracts from William Baxter: Glossarium Antiquitatum Britannicarum ... John Davies, Antiquae Linguae Britannicae .... et Linguae Latinae Dictionarium Duplex (London, 1632), with marginal insertions and with additional texts at the beginning and the end partly in the hand of Robert Vaughan (1592?-1666), Hengwrt, Merionethshire. The additions include '15 qual[i]ties of a good horse', 'Pymth[eg] cynneddf march da', 'Am yr Attaliadau. A'u Gwir Ddeunydd' ('Y mae chwe mâth o attaliadau mewn Llyfrau printiedig ac mewn Yscrifen ... '), two 'englynion' by John Davies in a copy of his dictionary presented to Rolant Vychan of Caergai, 'An admonition for the reading of the British words', 'Geiriau or Un Swn ac nid o'r un Feddwl', and 'The Numbers, Names, qualities, Royalties, Footings, Degrees of Age etc. of Beasts of the Forests according as they are termed of skillfull Forresters and Woodmen' (the latter from John Guillim, A Display of Heraldrie). On the inside lower cover is a paste-down of the certificate of subscription, 20 March 1767, by Thomas Owen of Jesus College, Oxford [rector of Upton Scudamore, Wiltshire, from 1779 until his death in 1812.].

A collection of poetry almost entirely in free metres entitled 'Casgliad o Gerddi a Charolau ar amryw Destynau O waith amriw Feirdd Cymru'. The manuscript is in the hand of David Ellis, Cricieth, and was written around 1790-1.
