Opus 38: Orison for Organ (facsimile)

Two facsimile copies of ink score, titled Opus 38: 'Orison for Organ', and dated 18 April- 3 September 1975. The work was commissioned by the North Wales Music Festival in association with the Welsh Arts Council, and first performed by Stephen Cleobury at St Asaph Cathedral. Dedicated to Alwena Harries.

Opus 40: Symphony No.1

Includes parts for flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons, horns 1, 2, 3, and 4, trumpets 1 and 2, trombones 1 and 2, bass, timpani, percussion, violins 1 and 2, viola, violoncello, and cello. The work was originally commissioned by the Fishguard Music Festival in association with the Welsh Arts Council, [1976]. Dedicated to Alwena Harries.

Opus 42: Dinas Gadarn

One facsimile copy and one ink copy of anthem, dated January 1977, and titled Opus 42: 'Dinas Gadarn'. Includes a typewritten note (unsigned) stating that the anthem was commissioned for the 700th anniversary of the Borough of Aberystwyth by Royston Harvard and the Madrigal Singers, University College Wales, Aberystwyth.

Opus 43: Piano Concerto

Facsimile copy of ink score, dated 1977, titled Opus 43: 'Piano Concerto'. The score was commissioned by the Llandaff Festival, 1977, with the assistance of the Welsh Arts Council. The file also includes a typewritten note, signed by David Harries discussing the piece, dated 26th November 1984. The score includes parts for flutes 1 and 2, oboes 1 and 2, clarinets 1 and 2, bassoons 1 and 2, horns 1, 2, 3 and 4, trumpets 1 and 2, trombones 1 and 2, bass trombone, timpani, percussion, piano, violins 1 and 2, viola, cello, and bass.

Opus 43: Piano Concerto No.1

Draft score in pencil, titled 'Opus 43: Piano Concerto No.1'. Included with the manuscript is a typed descriptive and biographical note relating to the works and career of David Harries (undated). Commissioned by the Llandaff Festival, 1977.

Opus 5: Sonatina for Piano

Draft score in ink with pencil annotations, dated 26 February-8 May 1955, titled Opus 5: 'Sonatina for Piano', and with a note in the hand of David Harries stating that this piece was performed by the composer at University College Wales Music Club, March and May 1955; and at Gregynog for the Congress of the Guild for Promotion of Welsh Music, June 1955.

Opus 51: Canticle No.3 The Sleeping Lord

Facsimile copy of ink score for tenor, string quartet and piano, composed between February and May 1983, dated 27th June 1983 and titled Opus 51: 'Canticle No.3 The Sleeping Lord: Fragments of a Poem by David Jones.' The work was commissioned by the Guild for the Promotion of Welsh Music in association with the Welsh Arts Council for the Swansea Festival, 1983. The file also includes a typewritten copy of the poem 'The Sleeping Lord' by David Jones.

Originally commissioned by the Lower Machen Festival in association with the Welsh Arts Council. Written as one of a sequence of three works celebrating devotion to the Virgin Mary which include his Opus 56 (4/8) and Opus 58 (4/9 and 4/10).
