Pryse family of Gogerddan trust papers

Papers deriving from trusts involving members of the Pryse family of Gogerddan, 1587-1950. These comprise trusts administered on behalf of the Pryse famliy and also trusts undertaken by the Pryses on behalf of others. The first series describes trusts involving various members of the Pryse family, 1587-1950, notably Sir Richard Pryse (d. 1623), and Richard Pryse (d. 1675) administrator of the estate of Lady Mary Vandyke in 1653; this series also includes two reports on the settled estates of Sir Pryse Pryse, 1888 and 1896, and later accounts to 1950. The second series concerns exclusively the administration and trust papers of Pryse Loveden who died intestate in 1855.

A manuscript containing Welsh poetry, the poets including Iolo Goch, Edmwnd Prys, Gutun Owain, Tudur Aled, Guto'r Glyn and Sion Phylip.
This forms one of the series of manuscripts of Welsh poetry copied under the superintendence of Dr John Davies, Mallwyd, and bears the reference B. 4°. Wherever the copyist failed to read the original he left blanks which Dr Davies filled in throughout the volume. Dr Davies also added an index, alphabetically arranged, to first lines of poetry (p. 567); added to this is an index to the authors of the poems, also alphabetically arranged, which bears the inscription 'Rhisiard Morys ai Sgrifennodd i Wm: Jones R.S.S. 1747' (pp. 577-588).

Papers deriving from various trusts, being either trusts undertaken by members of the Pryse family acting as trustees for others, or trusts undertaken for the Pryse family, 1587-1950. They include two trusts by Sir Richard Pryse (d. 1623); the administration by Richard Pryse (d. 1675) of the estate of Lady Mary Vandyke, 1653; and trusts by Edward Pryse of Llanvread for William Corbett of Nanteos 1685, Walter Pryse for Jonathan Castlemain of Painswick, 1731, Pryse Pryse for Francis Warneford, 1833; and J.C.P Vaughan for the J.P. Vaughan Pryse trust, 1937. There are also reports on the settled estates of Sir Pryse Pryse, 1888, 1896; and accounts with the trustees of the settled estates, 1887, 1901-1950.
