African-American musical influences

Material relating to the influence of black music and musicians on the music and culture of Britain, and in particular of Swansea, in the earlier part of the 20th century, including lists of jazz bands and orchestras; photocopied photographs of white and blackface 'minstrel' bands; photocopied press cuttings; and printouts from online sources; together with general material relating to black issues, history and influence on white culture, including correspondence between Jen Wilson and Ray Winbush and others and printouts from online sources.

Song sheets and piano reductions

Song sheets and piano reduction scores for popular pieces such as Red Sails In The Sunset, We'll Meet Again and I Dreamed A Dream (from Les Misérables) and for classical pieces such as the Infernal Galop from Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld and Schubert's Serenade, together with used ready-scored music manuscript books and fragments of handwritten music manuscripts. Some song sheets photocopied. Some items appear to have belonged to Jen Wilson and/or members of her family.

Diversity Awards Wales 2003

Material relating to the Diversity Awards Wales 2003 ceremony held at the Brangwyn Hall, The Guildhall, Swansea, 25 October 2003, at which Women in Jazz won the Best Racial Diversity Practice in Performing Arts category and were runners-up in the Best Racial Diversity Practice by a Voluntary Sector Establishment for their on-going Roots projects. Entertainment at the ceremony included a performance by the Jen Wilson Trio.
