Campaign to locate the Assembly in Cardiff

File contains letters, documents produced by Cardiff County Council, press releases, briefing notes and newspaper articles relating to the campaign to locate the National Assembly for Wales in Cardiff. The Welsh Office began to look at a range of possible sites across Wales after the Secretary of State for Wales and Cardiff County Council were unable to agree on the use of Cardiff City Hall for the Assembly.

Captain Johann Jurgen Dunken, dec.

Letters, accounts and other papers relating to the Captain Dunken's estate. Includes probate of the will of Captain Dunken, 'native of Lieben in Courland a citizen of the city of Hamburgh (will, 1832) and 'late of Macao in the East Indies deceased' (probate), a memorandum of the baptisms of John and Catherine Edwards of Arddynwynt's children, p. Mold, 1789-1805, an affadavit relating to the children, including Mary (afterwards Mrs Dunken), 1861, and most of the documents marked A-S referred to in the affadavit.

Dunken (d. 10 Aug. 1833) was commander of the ship 'Reform' of Hamburg. John Dugdale (d. 29 July 1855) of Dugdale & Bros, Manchester, was one of Dunken's executors.

Cardiff City Council election

File contains campaign leaflets distributed in the Cyncoed Ward during the campaign for the Cardiff City Council held in 1987. Three candidates for the D. D. P./Liberal Alliance were elected to represent the ward.

Cardiff Council Cyncoed by-election

File contains leaflets, newsletters and letters distributed by the Liberal Democrat candidate during the campaign for the by-election to the Cardiff County Council held in the Cyncoed ward in 2000. The by-election was caused by Baroness Randerson's resignation from the council following her appointment as a Minister in the Welsh Assembly Government.
