Letters to Morris Davies

Sixty-six letters, 1889-1911, addressed to Morris Davies, and pasted into a notebook. Several of the letters, 1909, were written on the occasion of Davies's departure from Rugby, where he had served as secretary of the Old Rugbeian Society.

Sporting scrapbook

One of two scrapbooks compiled by Morris Davies containing newspaper cuttings, 1865-1867, of sporting events, mainly cricket, athletics and hockey, as well as theatre and concert tickets and programmes, cartoons and photographs, and items of general and local interest.

Llanychaearn Church dispute papers

Letters and legal papers relating to the case of Vaughan Davies, plaintiff, and Sarah Davies, Mary Davies, Anne Davies, Hugh Stephens Richardes, Morris Davies, Morgan Davies and Lewis Lewis, defendants, regarding a claim for contributions by the defendants towards a sum paid by the plaintiff to the Aberystwyth branch of the National and Provincial Bank of England in connection with the rebuilding of Llanychaearn church. The dispute was apparently the result of a long-standing rift between parties which included the question of siting the church choir.

The file comprises lectures, [1932x1998]: 'The Scandinavians in Wales' and 'The Scandinavian impact on Wales' for The Viking Club; notes for 'Enwau lleoedd, iaith a hanes'; 'Early Welsh antiquaries', Carmarthen, 1961; 'The House' (Trawscoed, Cards)' and a talk on pedigrees for the 30 Club, together with typescript lesson notes on Danish Grammar from lectures which Dr B. G. Charles attended at the University College, London, 1932-1934.

The file comprises an essay entitled 'The place names of any four of the Cantrevs of Dyved' which was awarded first prize at the Fishguard National Eisteddfod, 1936; together with lecture notes for 'Pembrokeshire place-names' delivered to the [Guild of Graduates], Haverfordwest National Eisteddfod, 1972.
