'Llyfr cyfrifon yr ysgolion Sabbathol yn dosparth Llangeitho a Llambedr, Ionawr 16 1840' containing statistics, 1840-64, and resolutions of bi-monthly meetings during the same period. The Sunday Schools which figure in the statistics are Capel Gwnfil [sic] (Capel Llangeitho), Abarmeirig [sic], Llambedr, Maesyffynon, Llanddewi Brefi, Llanio fawr, Llwyn y piod, Bwlch llan, Penywch and Mynydd bach.

A notebook bearing the name 'Nancy Williams, Drysgol, Abergwesyn' containing press cuttings (poetry, etc.) in English and Welsh and some items in manuscript including an 'englyn' 'I Miss Nancy Williams' by [the Reverend Evan Afan Jenkins] 'Ifan Afan', Moriah, Whitland. The press cuttings include 'Rhestr o Hen Dai Adfeiledig ym mhlwyf Llanwrtyd gan Mr Evan Jones, Tynypant, Llanwrtyd', relating to Llanddewi Abergwesyn, Llanfihangel Abergwesyn and Tir-yr-Abad.

Welsh books on doctrinal matters, etc.,

A small notebook in the autograph of J. H. Davies containing the titles of Welsh books on various doctrinal matters ('Armin v Calvin', 'Baptist Dadleuon'), etc. Loose inside is a letter, 1909, from T[homas] Shankland, University College of North Wales, Bangor to J. H. Davies (returning the things belonging to Llyfryddiaeth Thomas Charles, mention of Llythyrau'r Gymanfa and of two issues about to be published by the Bangor Welsh MSS Society).

Sixty-six letters and postcards, 1890-1910, from Ellis Pierce ('Elis o'r Nant'), Dolyddelen to John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') (literary matters, mention of Isaac Foulkes ('Llyfrbryf'), 'Beirdd Llyn' [Cynfeirdd Llŷn], etc.).

Catalogue of books,

A notebook containing a catalogue of books belonging to [the Reverend] Edward Jones, Aberystwyth (d. 30 August 1860), 1848 (a few of the books were published after 1848), with lists of books given by him to his friends and a list of books given by Mrs Jones to her friends, 1862. There are also some later entries, 1887-8, not necessarily connected with Edward Jones.

'Caniadau',

A notebook belonging to J. H. Davies containing 'Caniadau', viz. the words of Welsh airs, etc., with an index. The first item in the index is 'I was go to Llandysul', of which the first line reads 'I live in Llandysul in shir Aberteifi'.

An interleaved copy of Edward Welchman, XXXIX Articuli Ecclesiae Anglicanae, textibus sacrae scripturae ... confirmati ..., editio quinta (Oxonii : e Theatro Sheldoniano, 1730). On the blank leaves are written Biblical passages referred to in the margins of the printed work. Loose inside is an abstract [by J. A. Bradney, according to a note in pencil by T. I. Ellis] of the will of John Edwards of Tredonyke, Monmouthshire, clerk, proved 8 January 1657/8 (P.C.C. Wotton 42).

Transcripts by J. H. Davies and [?Mrs Peter Hughes Griffiths] of fifteen letters, 1850-6, (originally forming part of a longer series) from Robert Roberts ('Y Sgolor Mawr'), fourteen to the Reverend W. Williams, Graianfryn [Llanfachreth] and Ty Calch [Llangristiolus], Anglesey, or to Mrs Williams, and one to Master John P. W[illiams], Shireland Hall. An inscription 'Letters from Robert Roberts 1850-1881. Copied from the original April 14. 1922' suggests that the transcripts were not completed.

A transcript of [John Lewis] Contemplations upon these times or the Parliament explained to Wales (London, 1646) made by J. R. Jones, London for J. H. Davies (see receipt, 16 December 1904, with the letters from J. R. Jones in the J. H. Davies Correspondence (Cwrtmawr Papers)). A reprint of this work was published in 1907 by Cymdeithas Llên Cymru.

An indexed 'Where is it?' notebook containing a 'Catalogue of Letters' in the Cwrtmawr Collection alphabetically arranged according to the surname of the writer. The index does not go beyond Cwrtmawr MS 487.

Catalogue of Welsh ballads,

An interleaved volume (385 pp.) belonging to J. H. Davies made up of pages from Y Traethodydd, 1886-92 ('Hen Gerddi y Cymry', a catalogue of Welsh ballads compiled by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), with pages 346-50 from Revue Celtique, II (part of a supplement [by D. Silvan Evans] to Llyfryddiaeth y Cymry). There are numerous additions and annotations by J. H. Davies, including cross-references to his own Bibliography of Welsh ballads printed in the 18th century (London, 1911) and an index to the authors, etc. of the pre-1800 ballads in the 'Myrddin Fardd' catalogue. The numbers used in the index correspond to the numbers in the 'Myrddin Fardd' catalogue while the page references are to the pages in the present volume. Loose inside are a list of ballads, etc. by Thomas Edwards ('Twm o'r Nant'), Hugh Jones, Llangwm and Ellis Roberts, with number or page references as before, and a letter, 1908, from D. Rhys Phillips, Swansea to [J. H. Davies] (jottings on three Shrewsbury 'effusions').

'Llythyr y Rheithor at blwyfolion Llanystumdwy', being a letter (4 pp., printed) from the Reverend J. P. Lewis, Rheithordy, Llanystumdwy, Dydd Mercher Lludw [Ash Wednesday], 1914, to his parishioners, opposing Disestablishment and Disendowment of the established church; together with some manuscript notes by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), possibly in preparation for an article.

A transcript of John Lewis, Eyaggeloigrapha, or, Some Seasonable and modest Thoughts in order to the furtherance of promoting the affaires of Religion, and the Gospel, especially in Wales (London, 1656) made by J. R. Jones, London for J. H. Davies (see receipt, 16 December 1904, with letters from J. R. Jones in J. H. Davies Correspondence (Cwrtmawr Papers)).

Memoirs and sermons,

A composite volume containing (a) a copy of Cotton Mather, Johannes in Eremo. Memoirs, relating to the Lives of ... John Cotton, ... John Norton, ... John Wilson, ... John Davenport, ... and ... Thomas Hooker ([Boston, Mass.]: Michael Perry, 1695); and (b) in manuscript, 'Sarmones preached by Mr Thomas Spurden precer [sic] of the Gospel in the towne of Rushmer in Suffolke ... 1671', written by John Berdwell. The sermons, two in number, were preached in 1670 and 1669 respectively. A 'Thomas Spurdance' is listed in Venn, Alumni Cantabrigienses, where he is described as 'R[ector] of Rushmere, Suffolk, during the troubles'.

A notebook containing press cuttings, chiefly of some of the articles in a series entitled 'Y Bardd' by 'Cato' (Y Gwladgarwr, 1879-80).

Strata Florida rent roll,

A notebook containing extracts transcribed by J. H. Davies (a) 'from a Translation of Rent Roll for the Manors &c of the monastery of Strata Florida' [see Cwrtmawr MS 873D] and (b) from a copy of the defendant's answer, 14 May 1743, in a lawsuit between Dorothy, Lady Lisburne, and Wilmot (Vaughan), Viscount Lisburne, containing lists of rents and tenants' names. The original of (b) is inserted loose in the notebook (pp. 1-2 wanting) and there is also a letter to J. H. Davies from Herbert M. Vaughan, Llangoedmore, Cardigan, who was the owner, it seems, of the document. Also within the notebook are observations by S. M. P[owell] headed 'Pant. Tregaron' and beginning 'Some things struck Mr Lloyd and myself in reading your notes.'.

H. Fynes-Clinton (review by 'Jmj'), and 'Cyhoeddiadau cyfnodol y Methodistiaid' (two articles by 'Ab Risiart').
