Llyfr Thomas Roberts,

A manuscript in a number of seventeenth century hands, with some eighteenth century additions, containing 'cywyddau' and 'englynion' (of which several are addressed to the family of Wynn of Foelas, Ysbyty, Denbighshire) by Robin Ddu, Rys Kin [Cain], Ifan (Ieuan) Llafar, Edward Brynllys, Rees ap Robert, Rhisiartt (Richard) Kynnwal, Sion Tvdvr (Tuder), Owain Gwynedd, Howell ap Syr Mathew, Thomas Prys, etc.; 'tribannau' and 'penillion' by Ievan Griffith otherwise Y Tailiwr Llawen (1662), Rd. Edwards, etc.; 'The Gipsies Paraphrase found in the Eaves of an house in Shropshire ... 1616 and kept since by the Lord Lumley'; prophecies, in English, concerning the Civil War, etc.; a list of animal charges on armorial shields; 'Prophwydolieth Dewi; and 'Penillion' entitled 'Datcaniad i Mr. Dauidd Lloyd o flaunyddol'. There is at the beginning a descriptive note on the manuscript and a detailed list of contents in a nineteenth century hand. Among the insets are the certificate, 1885, of the purchase by George T. Jones from his mother-in-law Catherine Evans for a sum of 10s. 6d. of manuscripts belonging to his late father-in-law; an undated letter from J[ohn] Jones ['Myrddin Fardd'], Chwilog, to [J. H.] Davies (the return of a manuscript, a payment by Mr. O'Brien Owen of Caernarfon); and a pencilled note by J. H. Davies describing the manuscript as 'Llyfr Thomas Roberts 1677'.

A scrap-book compiled by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') containing poetry in strict and free metres by poets from Caernarfonshire. Among the poets represented in the volume are Gwilym Ddu (o) Arfon (fl. c. 1280-1320), David Jones ('Dewi Fardd'), Trefriw, Hugh Evans ('Hywel Eryri'), Griffith Williams, Penmaenmawr, John (Ioan) Rowland(s), Pentir, William Owen ('Gwilym Ddu Glan Hafren'), [John Roberts] 'Sion Lleyn', Hugh Jones, Pen-y-groes, Llanwnda, Morris Roberts ('Eos Llyfnwy'), Llanllyfni, John Jones ('Ioan Glan Cledr'), Caernarvon, W[illiam] M[orris] Hughes ('Gwawdrydd'), Bangor, [G. M. Williams] 'Ap Morus', Llangwnadl, O[wen] Morris ('Owen Dinorwig'), [Robert Jones] 'Llystyn', Llandegai, [William John Roberts] 'Llwydlas', Penyrorsedd, etc., Robert Williams, Bangor, Owen Jones, Tros-y-waun, Bangor, W[illiam] Parry ('Gwilym Droed-ddu'), Llaniestyn, etc., Walter Griffith ('Gwalter Bach'), Griffith Ellis, Bryniau, T. Some of the poems are in the hand of the compiler but the majority are in the form of cuttings, largely from the second and third quarters of the nineteenth century, with annotations from printed almanacs and from Yr Eurgrawn Wesleyaidd, Eurgrawn Môn, Goleuad Cymru, Seren Gomer, Y Drysorfa, Yr Haul, Yr Amserau, Yr Herald Cymraeg, Yr Arweinydd, Y Cyfaill Eglwysig, Y Gwyliedydd, etc. The volume is bound uniformly with Cwrtmawr MS 753 and the spine and title-page are lettered 'Gweithiau Beirdd Sir Gaernarfon'.

A volume of cuttings from Welsh and Welsh American newspapers compiled by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). The titles include 'Barddoniaeth a Beirdd' (Llithiau XVIII, XXI, XXVII, XXVIII, XXXI) by [Dafydd Rhys Williams] 'Index', 'Y Diweddar D. Williams, As' [Castell Deudraeth, Merionethshire], 'Y Diweddar Barch. Morris Williams (Nicander)' (several obituary notices), 'Ieuan Brydydd Hir' (his clerical institutions), 'Y Diweddar Barch. Morris Roberts, Remsen, N.Y.', 'Y Proff. Morris D. Jones, Janesville, Wis.', 'Ben. Thomas Williams, Ysw. Yr Aelod Seneddol Newydd dros Fwrdeisdrefi Caerfyrddin a Llanelli', etc. There are two labels laid on the outer upper cover, the one numbered '15' and the other in the hand of 'Myrddin Fardd' inscribed 'Y diweddar Barch. Morris Roberts, Remsen, Richard Jones y Wern a John Elias. - Hanes dyddorol am danynt, yn agos i'r diwedd.' The volume was originally used by 'Myrddin Fardd' to record material on local history, and on some of the pages on which he has not mounted his cuttings there are transcripts of memorial and other inscriptions from Penmorfa [Parish] Church and notes on John Williams, Llecheiddior.
