Photographs relating to the work of Professor Emeritus Martin G Jones (1897-1979). Prof Jones was chair of Agricultural Botany at Kings College Durham, later the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne from 1947 until 1962. These photgraphs encompass his wide range of academic interests, particularly Grasslands.

115 b&w photographs connected with grass cultivation and it's practical applications collected by Professor Martin G Jones (1897-1979). Included are photos of plots, samples, conferences and photos of cattle and the Lexington and Hansen ranches in USA, farms in Sweden, Norway, Shetland Islands, & Ghana.

Volume 7 : Lantern Slides box 1

Lantern slides concerned with the agricultural research work of Professor Jones. Most are presumed to have been used to illustrate lectures. Included are graphs, swards, seedlings, experimental plots and livestock. Some are annotated and dated. Those dated tend to be from the 1930s.

Volume 8 : Lantern slides box 2

Lantern slides presumed to have been used as teaching aids. They include views of livestock grazing, samples of grass plants, experimental plots and graphs, many of the latter on the relative benefits of cocksfoot, ryegrass and clover. The vast majority are not annotated or dated.

Volume 9 : Lantern slides box 3

Includes a sequence showing milk being processed at the 'Farmers Milk Depot, Four Crosses Ltd' from ca.1925. Nos. 39-50 are of the Himalayas / Kashmir and include landscape views, a rope bridge and a Hindu Car Procession. Most of the rest are teaching aids including swards, experimental plots, graphs and charts. Some are from Prof Jones time at King's College.
