A manuscript containing Pembrokeshire, Cardiganshire and Carmarthenshire pedigrees (ff. 1-76, 80-87); the beginning of the Welsh Laws (ff. 77-79); and a table of the contents of ff. 17-76b (f. 80).
Ff. 17-76b, 80-80b are in the hand of George Owen of Henllys (see f. 59) and are dated 1577-1599; ff. 77-79b are in a later hand; ff. 83-86b belong to 1684; f. 87 is in the autograph of the Reverend Samuel Williams; and ff. 1-16b are in an eighteenth century hand.

Most of the letters, 1897-1917, relate to the author's academic and antiquarian researches into Pembrokeshire history. Many are enquiries to be answered by J. H. Davies. There are also occasional references to local affairs and family matters.

Journal of Sarah Ponsonby, 10 May-25 June 1778, entitled 'Account of a Journey in Wales perform'd in May 1778 by Two Fugitive Ladies', recounting the arrival of herself and Lady Eleanor Butler in Pembrokeshire and their subsequent travels in Wales and Shropshire, including first impressions of Llangollen (f. 11) and a watercolour view of Benton Castle signed by the Ladies (f. 1 verso).

A volume originally containing seventeen numbered manuscript maps, with acreages, of the Trewern estate in the parishes of Llanddewi Felffre and Narberth, Pembrokeshire, Llangynin, Llanboidy and Llanwinio, Carmarthenshire, and Blaen-porth and Llangoedmor, Cardiganshire, by Alfred Thomas, land surveyor, 1826. The original foliation was disturbed, probably during rebacking, so that the index and map and acreages no. 1 are now ff. 36-40, and three maps (nos 9, 10, 12) have been lost. Two other maps, 1880s, of farms in the parish of Llanddewi Felffre have been tipped in (ff. 29, 34) and details of acreages added on the blank leaves of the original volume. Other later additions, 1873-1893, include plans and details of acreages of farms in the parish of Meidrim, Carmarthenshire (ff. 31 verso-3, 42 verso-3).

A volume in the hand of Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd) containing pedigrees of Cardiganshire gentry families (pp. 1-136), together with a few from Carmarthenshire (pp. 137-163) and Pembrokeshire (pp. 164-179).

Lists of sheriffs of Pembrokeshire from 1540 to 1864, together with additions to 1878, and of mayors and sheriffs of the town and county of Haverfordwest from 1563 to 1864.

A volume in the hand of D. Morgan Lewis containing short collections of Welsh proverbs, Pembrokeshire dialect forms, and equivalent Welsh and English idiomatic expressions; transcripts from Cylchgrawn Cymdeithas Alawon Gwerin Cymru, vol. I, part I - vol. II, part 2 (1909-1919); and a transcript of the beginning of a work by William Williams, Pantycelyn, from the holograph manuscript designated NLW MS 74.

The file contains a description of Hengwm, which includes the weather, landscape and intrusion of modern forestry; brief notes of plants, birds and mammals recorded at various sites in Cardiganshire and Pembrokeshire; geology and vegetation of the Sugar Loaf and other sandstone or limestone hills, topography of mountainous areas in Breconshire and fungus list for Bont Ddu.

A cash book of Y Glog (Glogue) estate, Clydau, co. Pembroke, relating mainly to the slate-quarrying business of John Owen the younger (d. 1886), and recording payments from customers, mainly in co. Pembroke, and disbursements, 1867-1873 (ff. 1v-133), together with estate cash accounts and statement of rents, 1886-1891 (ff. 137-54).
