A vol. entitled 'Maesteg sections & Nova Scotia'. It contains copies of measurements of sections of collieries in South Wales and in Cumberland, Nova Scotia, the Welsh collieries being specified as 'North Crop Cwmamman', 1843, 'Llynvi Collieries', 'Torymynydd Seam'. 'Dyffryn Maddock Patch', 'Neath Abbey Minerals', 'Bryncoch Pit', 1870, 'Stanley Pit', 'Northern or Steam Coal District', 1862, 'Dylais Coal & Iron Co.'s Property', 'Hendre Lady's New Pit', 'Dynevor Coal Co.'s New Pit', 1872, 'Messrs Evans & Bevan's 7 Sisters Pit'. A group of miscellaneous deeds and documents relating principally to the Mackworth family of Gnoll and to the Gnoll estate. They include accounts of the Gnoll estate, 1755 - 1835; accounts of Herbert Mackworth, 1754-5; autograph letters of Robert Lydall, Melincrythan, 1699, Thomas Mackworth, Mormanton, 1706-7, Sir Humphrey Mackworth, 1716, Fr[ances], Duchess of Beaufort, 1740, Lord Plymouth, 1779, Lord Verney, 1784, Lord Newburgh, 1784, Lord Saye and Sele, 1784, Lord Mountstuart, 1784, Digby Mackworth, 1784, Jno. Franklen, Lanmihangle, 1784, Charles Bowen, Merthyr Mawr, 1784, the Rev. Thos Leyson, Bassalleg, 1814, G. Llewellyn, Baglan Hall, Neath, 1861, etc. The majority of these relate to industrial projects, such as silver refining at Melincrythan, 1699, and the Gnoll Copper Co., 1784; a printed copy of the bounds of the manor of Neath Ultra and Killybebill, 1632; a prospectus of the Neath Water Supply Co. A group of miscellaneous documents, including six autograph letters to Evan Bevan, Vale of Neath Brewery, 1842-7; a printed notice of a meeting in connection with the proposed Vale of Neath Railway, 1846; a printed notice of a meeting of the shareholders of the South Wales Railway, 1846; a printed first assessment of property and income tax in respect of the Hamlet of Michaelstone Lower, co. Glam., 1846, with a collector's warrant to Evan Bevan and William Rees; printed documents relating to the Glamorgan Rifle Association, 1860, and to the 17th Glamorgan Volunteers, 1860-4 and undated; a report on and a valuation of the Vale of Neath Brewery and the Cadoxton collieries, [1865] and undated; and 'Can o Amddiffyniad Shon y Cadish' by Thomas Evans, 'Bardd o Brechfa', 1801.
