Disgrifiad archifol
Cyfarthfa Papers,
Rhagolwg argraffu Gweld:

W(illiam) Crawshay, Jr., to Jane Tyler,

Mr Meyrick's inflexible offer for recipient's "little farm" is £34 per annum which recipient is advised to accept: [Note: It appears that William Crawshay is now proposing to make Mr Meyrick, rather than himself, tenant of Llwyn-y-draw, which accords badly with his previous assurances to Mrs Tyler.].

W(illiam) Crawshay, Jr., to J. Bowden,

Acknowledging a letter relating to Court Colman estate, but intimating that he is merely a friend of the principal in the matter, Mr Isaac Williams, to whom the letter is forwarded.

W(illiam) Crawshay, Jr., to W. M. Jones,

Requires a draft copy of "the Forest" lease as determined upon by recipient, Mr Meyrick, and Mr Preston, that he may give it consideration and approval.

W(illiam) Crawshayp Jr., to G. Brewer,

His resolve to obtain payment of the Bond deposited by the late Mr David Williams (as security for a debt), and his desire to avoid the pain of action; by his solicitors (Messrs. Jones & Powell, of Brecon), to whom the Bond is sent.

W(illiam) Crawshay, (Jr.), to Lewis Lewis,

Concerning 6 Scotch (cattle) which are to be kept till Christmas (for recipients); his bailiff's opinion as to feeding and his request for recipients instructions.

W(illiam) Crawshay, (Jr.), to his father, W(illiam) Crawshay (Sr.),

Concerning the false "complaints of those Lying Dutchmen ... made solely to make us Swallow their rascally orders, while they give all the best to Thompson's"; his view that things will never be right whilst the Cyfarthfa metal is sold (by recipient) before it is made; the blowing of No. 2 furnace; his request for recipient's approval of a proposal to sell iron direct to Walter Williams at £3 17s. 6d. instead of at £4 p. ton through the London House.

W(illiam) Crawshay, Jr., to The Marquis of Bute,

Personal. The new Act of Parliament being sought by recipient (in connection with the development of Cardiff?): "in my individual capacity I can venture to say that the (Glamorgan) Canal Co. will not oppose the objects he states your Lordship to have in view. Indeed my Lord, something should be done for the Port of Cardiff. The power is in your own hands alone now and we all earnestly hope you will use it or delegate it to those who will. I still repeat my opinion that your Lordship would do better to let others take the Port making, yourself keeping every ulterior and collateral advantage".

W(illiam) Crawshay, Jr., to W(illia)m Thompson,

Concerning cracks caused in a cottage at "Pwllywhiad" belonging to Mr Isaac Williams but held as security for a debt by the writer; his intention to sink a shaft to trace whose coal workings have caused the subsidence and then to sue the responsible company. A reminder that the property can be bought for £1000.

W(illiam) Crawshay, Jr., to William Thompson,

His intention to go ahead with sinking the shaft mentioned above. An enquiry as to whether recipient and the writer should take opinion as to their responsibility for maintaining some repairs to the river bank.

W(illiam) Crawshay, Jr., to E. P. Richards,

Concerning the completion of the negotiations for the lease of "Glyn Taf" and the payment of Mr Edmunds the intention of Mr Edmunds to offer the timber and underwood of "Lord Bute in Llantwit Fardre" to the writer; and the extension of the Cyfarthfa lease which "seems wholly at a stand with Lord Dynevor".
