A text of 'Dosparth Edeyrn Dafawd Aur' written by Lewis Richards, Darowen Vicarage in 1821. The manuscript is a transcript of Cwrtmawr MS 250 and formed the basis of the spurious Dosparth Edeyrn Davod Aur (Llandovery, 1856), published for the Welsh MSS Society, with an English translation and notes by John Williams ('Ab Ithel') (see John Morris-Jones: 'Dosbarth Edern Dafod Aur', Trans. Cymm., 1923-4, 1-28). The 'cywyddau' by Ieuan ab Hywel Swrdwal and Gruffudd ab Ieuan ab Llywelyn and 'Chwedl Rhitta Gawr, o Lyfr Iago ab Dewi' which follow the treatise in Cwrtmawr MS 250 are also included in the present volume.

A composite volume comprising three exercise books, with numerous items inset and mounted therein, largely in the hands of Thomas Richards, Mary Richards and Lewis Richards, Darowen. Some of the items have been transcribed from the manuscript(s) of 'Cadwaladr Robert o Lan y Mowddwy' and 'John Cadwalader' (p. 87) and 'Cadwaladr Davidd lan y Mowddwy' (p. 132).

A volume containing copies in the autograph of Owen Jones ('Manoethwy') of twenty letters, 1824-35, from John Blackwell ['Alun'], writing from Mold, Oxford, Berriew, Kerry, Holywell and Cardigan, chiefly to [the Reverend Thomas] Richards, Berriew and Llangynyw, and, to a lesser extent, to John Hamer, the Reverend Lewis Richards, Berriew, the Reverend E. Davies, Llan merewig and the Reverend Thomas Richards, Darowen. Two of the letters written from Oxford to the Reverend Lewis Richards contain letters also from John Antes La Trobe and J. Hamer in the one instance and J. Hamer in the other. Other items include a copy of a list of subscribers towards the education of John Blackwell of Mold, 1824, and copies of two other letters -, one, 1823, from R[ichard] Richards to his brother, [Thomas] Richards, Berriew, the other, 1827, from Evan Evans, ('Glan Geirionydd'), Christleton to Mr Richards, Llangynyw [i.e. Thomas Richards]. Some of the letters and the list of subscribers have been printed in Adgof Uwch Anghof. Some of the original letters are in Cwrtmawr MSS 74 and 872 and the list of subscribers is in Cwrtmawr MS 869.

A volume made up of fourteen letters, 1819-1851, from John Jones (Tegid or Ioan Tegid, 1792-1852), Oxford and later Nevern, to various correspondents. The details are as follows: six letters, 1819-1826, to the Rev. Thomas Richards, Berriew (the education of the addressee's brother and of E. Evans [probably 'Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'], a 'cywydd' on the death of Mrs Bosanquet, literary matters, adverse criticism from the bishop of Llandaff [William van Mildert] of a proof-sheet of the edition of the Welsh Prayer Book which the writer had undertaken to superintend); four letters, 1820-1824, to the Rev. David Richards, Llansilin (the education of the addressee's younger brother [Lewis], literary matters, the addressee's marriage, etc.); one letter, 1839, to Miss Angharad Lloyd [sic] (the Liber Landavensis is now in the press, he has completed his Welsh version of Isaiah direct from the Hebrew); one letter, 1846, to Owen Williams, Waenfawr (literary matters, criticism of the addressee's proposed 'Vocabulary'); one letter, 1851, to [Ebenezer Thomas] Eben Fardd (re. adjudicating the 'pryddestau' on 'Golygfa Moses &c'); and one letter, 1850, to the Rev. Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain) at Llanrhaiadr yn Mochnant, plans for a commentary in Welsh on the Epistle to the Galatians etc.). Also included in the volume are extracts, 1845, from a manuscript of Rowland Hugh 'o'r Graienyn ger y Bala' ('Brawd Nain Ioan Tegid o du ei fam oedd Rowland Hugh'), transcripts of two letters, the originals of which are to be found in Peniarth MS 11, viz. a letter, 1847, from [John Jones] Tegid, Nevern to the Lady Charlotte E. Guest and a letter, 1860, from Tho[ma]s Stephens, Merthyr Tydfil to W. W. E. Wynne, Esq., and an outline of 'Tegid's Feet [shoes] drawn at the Vicarage Darowen at the request of ?M. D. Jones, Darowen, 1836'.

A volume compiled in 1837 in the hand of Lewis Richards, vicar of Llanerfyl, containing particulars (names, residences and amounts) of 'Average of Tithes' in Llanerfyl, 1829-35.

Tune book, watermark 1805 (ff. 2, 82, 101, 109, 126), containing psalm-tunes, hymn-tunes, and anthems, with accompanying words in Welsh, including 'Hymn iw chanu ar ddydd Nadolig yn Eglwys Llangadfan 1797' (f. 51 verso). Many of the tunes were copied, 1817-1825, by the Reverend Lewis Richards (1799-1860) (ff. 9-14, 47, 49, 53, 78, 87, 93, 99, 116, 126), and one tune was copied, 1819, by the Reverend John Jenkins ('Ifor Ceri', 1770-1829) (f. 119).

A tune book, 1810s-1820s, containing psalm-tunes, anthems and hymn-tunes attributed to various Welsh composers including John Williams, Dolgellau (passim), David Harries, Carno (passim), Hugh Jones, Maesglasau (passim) and others, probably compiled by Thomas Richards (?the younger; his calligraphic signature, 1817, inside front cover). Some items are in the hand of his brother, Lewis Richards (1799-1860) and many annotations in that of his sister, Mair Richards, Darowen. Accompanying words, where present, are in Welsh.
