Bardd Treflys MS,

A volume consisting of a notebook which belonged originally to Robert Roberts, Ty mawr, Treflys [Caernarvonshire], 1775, containing mensuration tables, etc. and miscellaneous accounts, c. 1790-1815, mainly in Welsh, by Robert Roberts and one or more of his brothers. Over some of the pages and on additional leaves inserted at the beginning have been pasted cuttings of 'englynion' and other compositions mainly by Richard Roberts ('Bardd Treflys'; 1818-76); there are also some holograph items by Richard Roberts and transcripts by Ellis Owen, Cefn-y-meysydd and by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). The contents include 'Cywydd am fenthig Lanter Mawrth 20 1844' and 'Cân y Palm oil', both by Richard Roberts ('Bardd Treflys').

Autograph letters,

Autograph letters to 'Myrddin Fardd' from Edward Owen, Tycoch (1883), Daniel Rowlands (1883, 1886), John Williams ('Ioan Mai') (1884, 1886), Robert Hughes (Llangybi), Robert Jones, Bethesda (1877), 'Gurnos', Bridgend (1883), D. Morgan, Penrhyndeudraeth (1883), Morris Parry, Chester (1913), 'Dafydd Morganwg' (1874), Edward Breese (1881) and St George Armstrong Williams (1884); and autograph letters to Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd'), Clynnog, John Pughe, Barmouth and others (1840, 1844).

Autobiographical material of 'Dic Aberdaron',

A small account-book containing a transcript of manuscript autobiographical material of Richard Robert Jones ('Dic Aberdaron')(cf. NLW Deposit 324A). Loose in the volume is a note from John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), Chwilog to a Mr Davies enquiring about its price as everything relating to 'Dic Aberdaron' is valuable to him. At the reverse end are notes by D[avi]d Davies [cf. Cwrtmawr MS 519], who may be the transcriber of the Dic Aberdaron material. There are also some verses said to be by Josiah Hughes, Trefynon [sic] and John Elias, Môn written in another hand and pasted into the volume.

'Arfonwyson',

A notebook containing a short account of J[ohn] W[illiam] Thomas ('Arfonwyson; 1805-40) in the autograph of John Jones, ('Myrddin Fardd').

Afonydd Cymru,

A scrap book lettered 'Afonydd Cymru' compiled by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). It contains press cuttings entitled 'Afonydd Cymru' (from Yr Haul, 1870-1, passim), 'Yr Afon Wynion' by 'Glan Wynion', Dolgellau and by 'E' [from Y Cymro], 'Llenyddiaeth yr Afonydd' by 'Idnerth', Buth y Bardd, 'Taith ar hyd Glan yr Afon Ceri, Ceredigion' (incomplete), 'Prif afonydd swyddi Caer yn Arfon a Meirion' by 'Peris'' (from Y Gwyliedydd, May 1833), 'Rhestr o brif lynoedd Cymru', 'Llynoedd Sir Gaernarfon', etc., with annotations and additions in the hand of the compiler.

Achau, etc.

A composite volume, originally owned by Owen Williams ('Owain Gwyrfai'), Waun-fawr, with copious insets, containing a folio (pp. [655]-656) from Baner Cymru, October 20 1858; a section ('Ordevices', cols 777-840) from William Camden: Britannia (? 1722 edition) with a map of North Wales by Robt. Norden (? from the 1695 edition); two keys to 'Coelbren y Beirdd', the one undoubtedly and the other probably in the hand of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'); extensive transcripts of Caernarfonshire and other North Wales pedigrees, mainly in the hands of Owen Williams and John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'); and imperfect notes relating to the history and endowments of the Free School, Dolgellau.

Account of Eifionydd, etc.,

A notebook marked 'Copy No 1' containing an account of the hundred of Eifionydd followed by the beginning of an account of the hundred of Llŷn or Lleyn and a note on 'Dinas a Llys Dinorwig' by Peter Bayley Williams, Llanrug (cf. Y Gwyliedydd, 1835, 310), this last in the autograph of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). The material on Eifionydd bears a resemblance to 'Hanes Eifionydd' by W. Jones ('Bleddyn'), Llangollen (see Y Geninen, 1883, p. 59; 1884, pp. 69, 300) but the hand is probably that of 'Myrddin Fardd' at an early period of his life. Loose inside, pasted on a card, is a press-cutting concerning Enwau Lleoedd Sir Gaernarfon (see Cwrtmawr MS 564).

A survey of the Cathedral Church of Bangor ...,

A notebook containing extracts from Browne Willis, A survey of the Cathedral Church of Bangor ... (London, 1721), with additions in the form of a press cutting and of an extract in the hand of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd').
