The main families were Mostyn of Mostyn Hall and Hope of Broughton and Hope.

The file comprises an essay entitled 'The place names of any four of the Cantrevs of Dyved' which was awarded first prize at the Fishguard National Eisteddfod, 1936; together with lecture notes for 'Pembrokeshire place-names' delivered to the [Guild of Graduates], Haverfordwest National Eisteddfod, 1972.

Pembroke; Llanfihangel-ar-arth, Carmarthen town and borough, Llan-gain, Abergwili, Llanfihangel Rhos-y-corn, Newchurch, Llanfihangel Abercywyn, Llanybydder, Llanwinio, Tre-lech a'r Betws, Llanboidy, Aber-nant, Llangynnwr, Meidrim, St. Clears, Llandeilo Fawr, Llandybie and St. Ishmael, co. They include deeds for the Glandewely estate in Llanfihangel-ar-arth, 1553-1769, and the Golden Lion in Lammas Street, Carmarthen, 1771-1877.

Treatises in Latin; a Greek vocabulary; material relating to the hundreds and parishes of Merioneth, Montgomeryshire and Pembrokeshire; 'the Syren & the hundredes of Engelonde'; rentals of several North Wales manors; an account of a tax paid by North Wales counties in 1701; a transcript of documents of King Alfred; etc.

Miscellaneous manuscript and printed material, 1775-1870, relating to Captain John Phillips of Liverpool, his heirs, and the Smalls Lighthouse on the Pembrokeshire coast, the building of which he instigated, including two broadsides, articles of agreement, legal opinions, autograph letters and the signed document by which Phillips transferred the management of the lighthouse to Trinity House.

The file comprises maps of Pembrokeshire showing boundaries of boroughs, rural and urban districts within the county and the elevation and primary communication routes within the county.

A selection of manuscripts, [16 cent.]-[?1919], of the late Dr Henry Owen, from the Library at Poyston. They include the manuscript note-books of Dr Owen, and of Edward Laws, his friend and fellow worker on Pembrokeshire history. The older manuscripts include two in the hand of George Owen of Henllys; holograph letters of General Sir Thomas Picton (born at Poyston); and a rent roll of the rents belonging to the Bishop of St Davids, 1685.
