Letters and papers

The file contains letters of Gus Jones as county councillor. Correspondents include Alex Carlile, parliamentary candidate for Montgomery, and Delwyn Williams, MP. Subjects include roads, schools and homes for the aged in Powys, 'Nuclear Free Powys', the Montgomery Canal, and the sale of furniture (inventory included) at Clive House, Welshpool.

Collecting books

The file contains collecting books for the local fund of the Lord Mayor of London's Fund for the Relief of Distress in Mining Areas, opened by Sarah Evans Davies, mayor of Welshpool. The notebooks give the names and addresses of donors, including the employees of local companies, and the sums donated.
