Transcripts of three letters written to, and in the possession of, the Royal Society of Arts. The writers are T[homas] Johnes, from Clifton and from Hafod, co. Cardigan, 1800-1801 (the planting of alders by the writer in 1796, a drill machine invented by an ingenious tenant of the writer's, a request for models of a family mill and a lock, suggestions for agricultural premiums, comments on the writer's 'short pamphlet of advice' to his tenants), and James Todd, gardener at Hafod, 1800 (the planting of alders in 1797).

Transcripts of the titles of Welsh ballads contained in a manuscript at one time [1925] in the possession of Hugh Davies, Lluest, Llangadfan, Montgomeryshire, together with transcripts by Hugh Davies of the titles of books of local Montgomeryshire interest, with notes by the transcriber on the authors and subjects of the ballads and books.

A volume of holograph Welsh poetry by Waldo Williams (1904-71), entitled 'Odlau Idwaldo, sef Ambell Donc gan Waldo Williams [ac Ambell Dinc gan Idwal Jones]' (words in square brackets deleted by the scribe).

Autograph notes of William Retlaw Williams towards the compilation of his The Parliamentary History of the County of Hereford (Brecknock, 1896), including notes on Herefordshire parliaments from the early thirteenth century through to the nineteenth century.
Loose in an envelope are two letters, 1896 and 1901, from Williams to Frances Christina Baldwyn-Childe of Kyle Park, Worcestershire; a postcard showing Brinfield Court, Herefordshire, which was burnt down in August 1925; press cuttings, 1887, from the Hereford Times; and a printed advertisement for William Retlaw Williams, The Parliamentary History of Worcestershire (Hereford, 1897). These loose items were found in a copy of Williams's The Parliamentary History of the County of Hereford which at one time belonged to Frances Christina Baldwyn-Childe, and were transferred from the Department of Printed Books at NLW in 1980.

A photostat copy of a document belonging to the Birmingham Reference Library, being a petition, [c. 1620]-1636, by one John Feild of Kings Norton, Worcestershire to the Rt Hon. William Compton, Earl of Northampton (d. 1630) and President of the Council in the Marches of Wales, requesting the Council to compel certain tenants of the manor of Kings Norton to fulfil their promise to bear a part of the expenses of Feild's action, while holding the office of bailiff of the manor, against one Thomas Rea in a dispute concerning the goods of two women who had been executed for witchcraft.

The papers include: (i) poetry, 1776-[1838x1843] (ff. 1-5), comprising verses to Sir Roger Mostyn, 5th bart, by Richard Williams of Fron, 1776 (f. 1), a song in honour of Sir Edward Pryce Lloyd, 2nd Bart (later 1st Baron Mostyn) by Mrs Piozzi, 1806 (f. 2), verses 'To the Lady Harriett Mostyn on the birth of her ninth child' by Angharad Llwyd, 1838 (f. 3), and 'Lines on Sir R[obert] W[ilia]mes Vaughan, Bart' by R. Owen, [1834x1843] (f. 5), all apparently unpublished; (ii) some sixteen letters, 1801-[1864] (ff. 6-23), including juvenile letters from Edward Mostyn Lloyd[-Mostyn] (later 2nd Baron Mostyn) to 'Granny' [possibly his great-aunt Frances Mostyn], 1803-1806 (ff. 7-11), an incomplete transcript of 'Savage Mostyn's Indian Letter', dated 10 July 1858 (ff. 17-18), and a letter, [?21 February 1864], from Essex Mostyn to her sister Bessy [Elizabeth Weekes], concerning the disastrous fire at Pengwern, home of their Uncle and Aunt, on 19 February (f. 19); (iii) genealogical and heraldic notes, 1810-1880, [?1927] (ff. 24-40), including an outline of the history of the Lloyds of Pengwern, 1810 (ff. 24-25), notes for a proposed coat of arms for the Mostyn family, [?1831] (ff. 30-33), and notes by F. de Witt, [1860s] (ff. 36-37); (iv) papers, 1823-1838, relating to the lease of a property in Lower Seymour Street, London (ff. 41-44); (v) various lists of visitors and guests at Mostyn, 1832-1877 and undated (ff. 45-57); and (vi) miscellaneous other items including an essay by F. Papers, 1905-1928, in Welsh, of William Jones (Ap Llyn, 1875-1955), Bootle, mostly comprising letters from, and poetry by, literary friends in the Liverpool area. Correspondents include William Thomas Edwards (Gwilym Deudraeth) (2) n.d., John Thomas (Eifionydd) (1) 1906, Eliseus Williams (Eifion Wyn) (3) 1906-8, and John Owen Williams (Pedrog) (3) 1907-28, while the poetry includes an exchange between Ap Llyn and R.
