An imperfect composite volume written in a number of hands but mainly in a late sixteenth century hand. The following note by J. H. Davies is written on one of the upper fly-leaves: 'This MS is supposed to be in the hand of Sion Brwynog (see Cwrtmawr MS 11.493). It was copied by the Rev. David Ellis, then of Amlwch in 1777 and was then perfect. The copy is now MS 11 in my collection'. This supposition cannot be correct since Siôn Brwynog died in 1562 and some of the poems were composed after that date. The hand also differs from that in Peniarth MS 61 which J. Gwenogvryn Evans tentatively attributed to Siôn Brwynog (See also Eurys I. Rowlands 'Llaw dybiedig Siôn Brwynog', Cylchgrawn Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru (The National Library of Wales Journal), Vol. VII, pp. 381-2). Some of the pages which have been repaired have also been made up by a later hand and the ink in these portions has faded badly. One page of the volume has been made up by J. H. Davies. The spine is lettered 'Llyfr Kywyddau'.

An English translation by David Howell ('Llawdden') of Taliesin Williams ('Ab Iolo'): Traethawd ar Hynafiaeth ac Awdurdodaeth Coelbren Y Beirdd, ... (Llanymddyfri, 1840), with copious additions and revisions by Thomas Stephens, Merthyr Tudful. A note by J. H. Davies on the fly-leaf states that the translation was made in 1853, at the instance of Thomas Stephens. The original essay was awarded a medal and a prize at the Cymreigyddion y Fenni Eisteddfod, 1838. The end of the text is imperfect, one leaf probably being wanting. The spine is lettered 'Coelbren y Beirdd'.

A volume of 'cywyddau', etc. transcribed by W[illiam] H[enry] Mounsey in 1859 from manuscripts in the British Museum ('Barddoniaeth sef Casgliad O Waith Beirdd Cymru. Tynwyd allan y Casgiad hwn O Ysgriflyfrau yn yr Amgueddfa Brydeinig Genyf fi, Wiliam Henri Mounsey O Gaerliwelyd [sic] yn Sir Cwmberland. 1859'), together with annotations by D. Silvan Evans. The poets represented are Iolo Goch, Llywelyn Moel y Pantri, Gruffydd Gryg, Iorwerth Cyriog, Gutto'r Glyn, Iorwerth Vynglwyd, Lewis Morganwg, Sefnyn, Sippyn Cyfeiliog, Syr D[afydd] Trefor, Robin Ddu ('hynaf, o Fôn'), Rhys Goch Eryri, Doctor Sion Cent, Rhys Brydydd, Llawdden, Dafydd Nanmor, Dafydd ap Edmwnt, Guttyn Owain, Deio ap Ieuan Du, Llewelyn ap Guttyn, Gruffydd Hiraethog, William Cynwal, Sion Tudur, William Lleyn, Morus Kyffin, Mredydd ap Rhys, Robert Dai Llwyd and Sion Gruffudd ('o Llanddyfnan'). Among the illustrations and cut-outs mounted on the fly-leaves and in blank spaces in the manuscript are engravings of Montgomery Castle, the Fall of the Ogwen, Conway Tubular Bridge and Castle, Llyn Idwall, Rhaiadr Du near Tan y Bwlch, Moel y Gest, Denbigh, Snowden [sic] and Llanberis Lake, Valle Cruces Abbey and Pont Aberglaslyn. The spine is lettered 'Casgliad o Waith Beirdd Cymru. W. H. Mounsey. 1859'.

The majority of the prose texts were transcribed from manuscripts in the British Museum during the period 1859-60 and many of them were printed in Y Brython, 1859-60. The spine is lettered 'Welsh and Irish Tracts. W. H. Mounsey'.

A volume entitled 'Telyn y Cyssegr. 1851', being a collection of hymns and religious poems, including translations, by D. Silvan Evans. Many of the compositions were published in D. Silvan Evans: Telyn Dyfi (Aberystwyth, 1898).

Holograph sermons of John Hughes, Pontrobert preached at Myfod, Llanfair [Caereinion], Drefnewydd [Newtown], Llanidloes, Gleiniant, Crososwallt [Oswestry], Bala, Rhyw Gyfylchau, Tal y Bont, Pont Robert and Gwenynog; holograph sermons of Michael Roberts [Pwllheli], 1804; an anonymous funeral sermon ('Pregethwyd yn angladd plentyn Gwladeithe [Cynwyl Gaeo], Tachwedd 11 1885'); and a draft agenda of a Wesleyan synod meeting, with oral questions to be submitted to young candidates for the ministry ('Holi'r dynion ieuaingc'), [18]40.

A small notebook containing 'penillion telyn' and other verses, some to be sung to the airs 'Lili Lon', 'Nos Galan', and 'Ar hyd y Nos'. Some of the verses appear in John Ceiriog Hughes: Oriau'r Hwyr. At the end of the volume the following note occurs: 'Some of the Sheets near the end of your (my) copy are out of place. D. Parry'. An inscription on the inside upper cover suggests that the notebook was originally intended as an account book of Messrs Reed & Owens with Messrs Whitney and Wilson, Barton Street, Liverpool.

An early nineteenth century volume containing tabulated Biblical references arranged under such subjects as 'Ynghylch yr Ysgrythyrau', 'Am y Drindawd', 'Am Briodoliaethau Duw', 'Yn nghylch Ordinhadau Duw', 'Yn nghylch Gweithredoedd Duw', 'Yn nghylch Cwymp Dyn', etc. Subsequent additions include 'Ychydig Bennillion' ( i.e. a hymn by T. Jones), a transcript of a letter from Evan Harries (formerly of Llandovery) from Calabah Island, near Bombay to David Davies [Congregational minister], Swansea, 1805 (the writer's activities with the Regiment, the writer's religious experiences, greetings) (together with verses by the writer entitled 'Cyngor i Bregethwyr ieuaingc'); expository notes on 'Prynedigaeth', 'Perseverance of the Saints', 'Schism', 'The excellency of the Bible' and 'Astonishing Accuracy of the Bible'; and catechisms on 'Gwir Wybodaeth', 'Am Lygredigaeth Tafod' and 'Am Gyfiawnder Ymarferol'.

An attendance book of a [Sunday School] class of William Davies, Johnstown at Water Street [Calvinistic Methodist] Church, Carmarthen, 1852-4.

A manuscript containing holograph sermons, 1820-2, by J. Jones, student at Llanfyllin [Congregational Academy], subsequently at Newtown, Montgomeryshire. Several of the sermons are written in shorthand. At the end of the volume are an index and a list of places, widely dispersed in North Wales, at which the sermons were preached.

A notebook containing four holograph sermons of T[imothy] Evans [vicar of Llanbadarn Trefeglwys, Cardiganshire]. The sermons were preached at Llanb[adar]n [Trefeglwys], Kilk[enni]n, Llans[an]tff[rai]d and Henf[ynyw] during the period 1799-[18]14. The upper brown paper cover is inscribed '1799. Vb' and the lower 'Llanbadarntrefeglwys, Cardiganshire'.

A commonplace book of Cellan, Cardiganshire provenance, containing sermon notes, household and weaving accounts, 1819-24, hymns, 'englynion', medical recipes, Welsh proverbs, etc. The volume was begun in 1791 by Thomas Griffiths, Tynycoed, Cellan.

An account book of William Williams of Pantygar, parish of Llanybydder, Carmarthenshire and of Clwydffwrn, parish of Llanwenog, Cardiganshire, containing an extensive list of monies received at his bidding day at Pantygar, 10 April 1810, together with some accounts (sales of haberdashery, etc., debts owing to and due from the scribe), 1807-15, a weaving pattern, a ballad entitled 'Hanes o garwriaeth priodas a marw[o]laeth gwr ieuangc o gymru a elwid yn gyffredin y ceiliog du... ', etc.

A volume containing a dictionary of rhymes (i.e. lists of Welsh words arranged according to word endings e.g. adafaela, adara, ... ysgwyddwisg, yswythbysg) in the hand of Evan Evan ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'). Beginning at the end of the volume are a list, in the same hand, of selections from the New Testament appropriate for reading on specified Sundays, and a draft of a 'pryddest', 1 December 1885, on 'Dyffryn Conwy' by 'Hanesydd' i.e. William John Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd') composed for an eisteddfod at Llanrwst. Watermark: 1834.

Two volumes bound in parchment containing a detailed journal by David Pennant, Downing of a tour of France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. The recorded tour began at Dover on 5 July 1819 and ended at Brussels on 16 June 1820. At the end of each volume are daily weather observations and other memoranda.

A holograph manuscript of the Reverend Robert Williams, Rhydycroesau near Oswestry, containing materials towards a portion (letters V, F-j, L-n, in this order) of his Lexicon Cornu - Britannicum (Llandovery ... London, 1865). The sections under letters V, H, L and N are dated respectively 7 September, 1 October, 8 October and 27 October 1835, but there are later additions which appear to be immediate drafts of the printed work.

A volume almost entirely in the hand of Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd') containing pedigrees mainly of North Wales families (e.g. 'Achau awdur y Bardd Cwsg' [i.e. Ellis Wynne], the families of Herbert of Powis, etc., Mostyn of Mostyn, etc., Salisbury of Lleweni, Hanmer of Hanmer, Meirick of Bodorgan, etc.). Inset is a pedigree chart by 'Eben Fardd' entitled 'Llwyth Ceridwen-Gwehelyth Llên ac Awenydd Eifion yn y XIX Ganrif' (references to Owen Owens ('Owain Lleyn'), Robert Williams ('Robt. ap Gwilym Ddu'), Ellis Owen, Cefnymeusudd, Robt. Isaac Jones ('Alltud Eifion'), Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Vardd'), etc.), together with an undated covering letter by the scribe.

A composite volume in the autograph of Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd') containing (?)essays or addresses (prefaced 'Sketches & Stories') on 'Nodweddiad Cenedlaethol', 'Darllenyddiaeth', etc., with a 'Hir a Thoddaid' beginning 'Wyneb y Genedl o hen Baganiaeth', (?) an adjudication on 'Darlleniaeth', with verses entitled 'Darlleniaeth yr Ysgrythyr', a translation into English by Bl. ab C. of six lines from Eben Fardd's 'Dinystr Jerusalem', a notebook bearing on the cover the words 'Dechreu yr ysgol yn yr Eglwys', containing memoranda, accounts, etc., 1824-9, relating mainly to Clynnog school, 1827-8 (names of scholars), with some earlier references to Llangybi and Llanarmon, a list of poems by Goronwy Owen with the year of their composition, and a copy of the protest presented to Lord Mostyn following the awarding of the chair prize at the Rhuddlan Eisteddfod, 1850, for a 'pryddest' instead of an 'awdl', with a copy of Lord Mostyn's reply.
