Corrected page-proofs of [J. H. Davies (ed.), The Letters of Goronwy Owen (Cardiff, 1924), pp. i-vi, 1-207. The date 'Oct. 1923' is stamped on the first page of the Introduction (which is shorter than that in the book as printed) and Appendix XI and the indices are wanting in the proofs.

A prescription book of John Harri[e]s (d. 1839), astrologer, medicine-man, and 'conjurer' ('dyn hysbys'), of Pant-coy, Cwrtycadno, Carmarthenshire. The contents are based partly, if not wholly, on what the writer describes as 'Edinborg Gulen' [sic] [i.e. an Edinburgh edition of the works of Claudius Galen].

A copy of Councils and ecclesiastical documents relating to Great Britain and Ireland, ed ... by Arthur West Haddan and William Stubbs, Vol. II, Part II (Oxford, 1878). At the end of the volume are manuscript notes probably by E. J. Newell [?the Reverend Ebenezer Josiah Newell (1853-1916) on the lives of various saints (based on W. J. Rees, Lives of the Cambro British saints. The Welsh MSS Society (Llandovery, 1853), with references also to Rice Rees, An Essay on the Welsh saints (London, 1836) etc.). There is also a cutting from The Weekly Mail, 18 August 1900, containing an article by Beriah Gwynfe Evans in reply to the Reverend John Morgan Jones headed 'Rival historians in Wales'.

A copy with annotations by J. H. Davies of the sale Catalogue of the library of the late Edward Breese, Esq., FSA of Morva Lodge, Portmadoc, a library which was sold by auction by Messrs. Sotheby, Wilkinson & Hodge, 31 May 1888. The names of the purchasers and the prices paid have been inserted in the margins and there is a reference to [Edwin] Poole's Old Welsh Chips, 1888, p. 231 et seq. Following the catalogue is a list by J. H. Davies of the manuscript items; there is also a similar list in pencil, with (?) cross references to another catalogue (see Cwrtmawr MS 811). The last-mentioned list has now been tipped in, as has a press cutting relating to the sale.

A small volume containing imperfect copies of two printed works, viz. (a) Gemmeu Doethineb .....gan Rys Prydderch ... (Argraphwyd yn y Mwythig gan Tho. Durston tros D. Lewys a Christ. Samuels ... 1714) and (b) Flores Poetarum Britannicorum ... o gasgliad J. D. SS. T. D. fal yr ydys yn tybygu (Printiedig yn y Mwythig, gan T. Jones dros D. Lewys, 1710). The title-page of (a) is damaged and several pages are wanting in the text; on the title-page are the words 'by Wm Wms. of Pabo'. In (b) the title-page and 'Llythyr at y darllenydd' (both items transcribed twice, by two different hands), together with pp. 1-4, have been supplied in manuscript, whilst other pages wanting (19-22 incl.) have been supplied in a modern printed facsimile; between pp. 58 and 59, before 'Llyfr Barddoniaeth o waith y Capten William Midleton ...,' is a piece of paper (?) originally addressed to J. Jones, esq., Dinorben Farm, near St Asaph, N.W.' (printed).

A small volume containing three printed works by Arise Evans (fl. 1607-60), viz. (a) A voice from Heaven to the Common-wealth of England. With additions ([London]: Printed in the Year, 1653); (b) An eccho to the Voice from Heaven, Or A narration of the Life, and manner of the special calling, and visions of Arise Evans ..... ([London]: Printed for the authour, 1652); and (c) To His Excellencie the Lord General Cromwell, and his Honourable Councel of the Army at White-Hall. The petition of Arise Evans ..... [London], 20 May 1653. On the title page of (a) is written 'Spes mea Christus. Ho C ex dono Patris maii 1679' and between (a) and (b) are manuscript extracts from [John] Jortin, Remarks on ecclesiastical history, Vol. I, referring to the visions of Rice [sic] Evans.

A copy of [John Roberts] 'Ieuan Gwyllt', Llyfr Tonau Cynnulleidfaol. Yr wythfed fil ar hugain (Wrexham, 1871), including also his Ychwanegiad at y Llyfr Tonau Cynulleidfaol (Wrexham, 1870). At the beginning and end of the volume are some notes of sermons heard, c. 1883-4.

The original manuscript of 'Llyfryddiaeth y Cymry', 1546-1800, in the autograph of the Reverend William Rowlands ('Gwilym Lleyn'), with additions and corrections by D. Silvan Evans, including a few contributions in the autograph of Richard Williams [then of Welshpool, afterwards of Celynog, Newtown], etc. A note in pencil indicates that pp. 10 and 333 are wanting; other pages have been cut into two or more pieces.

Miscellaneous papers, including an extract 'From the Mabinogion of Lady Guest' [cf. The Mabinogion ... translated with notes, by Lady Charlotte Guest (London, 1877), pp. 74-6], a list of early Welsh books (in the autograph of [Thomas Edward Ellis], an extract from Kinmel MS 76 [NLW MS 1576] relating to Thomas Lloyd of Penmaen, and a bibliography entitled '"Y Bardd Cwsc" by Elis Wyn o Lasynys' [cf. The Journal of the Welsh Bibliographical Society, Vol. IV, pp. 199-208]. There are also a number of blue wrappers from past issues of 'Beibl Peter Williams' (1770) and the Welsh edition of Cann's Bible (1790) with printed proposals, Trefecca, 1786, relating to the latter, and part of a notebook (eighteenth century), which belonged to David Jones of Bryn y Rhig near Dolgelly and others, containing a few 'englynion', etc.

E[llis] dated 'Dydd Calan 1899' to [Banciau pentre neu glybiau tir i dyddynwyr, gweithwyr, siopwyr, &c. ... (Bala, [1899]), a translation by Ivan T. Davies of a booklet by Henry W. A notebook containing extracts transcribed by J. H. Davies (a) 'from a Translation of Rent Roll for the Manors &c of the monastery of Strata Florida' [see Cwrtmawr MS 873D] and (b) from a copy of the defendant's answer, 14 May 1743, in a lawsuit between Dorothy, Lady Lisburne, and Wilmot (Vaughan), Viscount Lisburne, containing lists of rents and tenants' names. The original of (b) is inserted loose in the notebook (pp. 1-2 wanting) and there is also a letter to J. H. Davies from Herbert M. Vaughan, Llangoedmore, Cardigan, who was the owner, it seems, of the document. Also within the notebook are observations by S. M. P[owell] headed 'Pant. Tregaron' and beginning 'Some things struck Mr Lloyd and myself in reading your notes.'.

A notebook containing press cuttings, chiefly of some of the articles in a series entitled 'Y Bardd' by 'Cato' (Y Gwladgarwr, 1879-80).

A composite volume containing (a) a copy of Cotton Mather, Johannes in Eremo. Memoirs, relating to the Lives of ... John Cotton, ... John Norton, ... John Wilson, ... John Davenport, ... and ... Thomas Hooker ([Boston, Mass.]: Michael Perry, 1695); and (b) in manuscript, 'Sarmones preached by Mr Thomas Spurden precer [sic] of the Gospel in the towne of Rushmer in Suffolke ... 1671', written by John Berdwell. The sermons, two in number, were preached in 1670 and 1669 respectively. A 'Thomas Spurdance' is listed in Venn, Alumni Cantabrigienses, where he is described as 'R[ector] of Rushmere, Suffolk, during the troubles'.

A transcript of John Lewis, Eyaggeloigrapha, or, Some Seasonable and modest Thoughts in order to the furtherance of promoting the affaires of Religion, and the Gospel, especially in Wales (London, 1656) made by J. R. Jones, London for J. H. Davies (see receipt, 16 December 1904, with letters from J. R. Jones in J. H. Davies Correspondence (Cwrtmawr Papers)).
