T. Williams, Tir-y-Cwm,

Hopes addressee has had good sport at the Welsh Melton. His own experience there. Something mysterious about Hugh's retirement from the army. Believes he should never have been brought from Greece. It was cruel to make a man a gentleman without giving him the power to support the character.

John Bevan, Cowbridge,

Regarding lease to Mr Christie. Christie offers a higher royalty than the others, but any delay in signing may cause him to withdraw.

John Bevan, Cowbridge,

Concerning Christie's lease, claim is not to the entirety of the rail road. MSW claims a moiety of the wayleave, subject to his paying a proportion of the materials needed in its construction. Includes a note of the valuation of the railway between Sychryd bridge and Dinas Quarry.

Edward Lloyd, Aberpergwm, to John Bevan,

Copy letter regarding MSW's objections to the wording of the lease of the tramroad and wayleave, which gives the recipient an exclusive right. MSW claims a moiety of the wayleave, but does not dispute Bevan's ownership of the rails or plates.

John Bevan,

Is writing to Cookson to instruct them to omit the words objected to by MSW. Asks what is to be done about the moiety of the line to the quarry, which MSW can purchase if he wishes, or it can remain in Davies's occupation.

MSW, Jermyn Street,

MSW has no objection to Mr Christie. Bevan may remove his railroad if he desires. Christie has written to ask MSW to sign a petition to get a telegraph office at Parry's Post Office, but it would be better for Aberpergwm to keep it at the station.

Charles [Murray], London,

Thanks for invitation to stay at Landough Castle. Arrangements for staying in London. Gratified addressee approved of his choice of music. Would bring any pieces of music she fancied with them on their visit.
